The Politics of 'lowered-expectations' for Miers
How will this play out?

I think there is a definite chance that she will show up, use the right code words and say a few intelligent things and she is in like flint...

1. The soft bigotry of lowered expectations
I seem to have heard that somewhere before.

Does anyone know?

2. She'll look weak compared to Roberts
Dems will hammer her on inexperience and cronyism.

The right will hammer her on key issues and her failure to take positions the past 40 years.

She'll probably get approved, but she'll look less than in doing so.

4. I definitley think she'll be weaker
Will she get through? That's the mystery. I really don't know how it'll play out. She'll probably be told some talking points by Rove and other advisors.

6. Blankley of the Washington Times
on the McLaughlan Group yesterday predicted that her nomination will be withdrawn. Wishful thinking from a conservative Republican - I think the *resident will be approached by many to do just that.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
