Poll question: Who Do You Think Will Be the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominee?
Edited on Sun Oct-09-05 06:59 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
Not who do you want to win but who do you think will win?

For instance I want the Miami Dolphins to win the SuperBowl this year but I don't think they will win...

1. I Think HRC Will Win The Nomination
but I'm not enthused by her prospects in the general election...

Anybody on that list is acceptable to me but I do think some have better chances than others...

11. I think she will win, but I'd rather see Gore
that would be a great primary battle Hillary vs Al.

3. Kerry is the least improbable. He actually ran a close-to-flawless...
campaign and is one of the very few who can unite the left and the middle of the party.

Hillary is too RW, too polarizing, and her public speaking style is deadly.

Kerry's main competition will come from the "second tier": Feingold, Clark or someone yet to emerge.

4. I don't know. Its really too early to tell yet.

I'm going to swim against the tide and say that I don't think it will be Hillary. There are too many people on both sides of the aisle gunning for her because of her last name and given her experience in the White House, I wonder why she would even want to run for the White House.

I think its both surprising and interesting that Gore could be mounting a comeback.

I'm sorry, but I don't consider Kerry a realistic contender. A lot of people felt betrayed by his quick capitulation in Ohio. I don't think that can be swept under the rug or forgotten easily; a once bitten, twice shy thing.

I personally like Dean, but if I remember correctly one of the things he had to do when taking over the chairmanship was renounce a future attempt at the White House, so he's out.

That said, when it finally arrives it looks to be an interesting primary season.

6. I agree with most of your analysis
Bayh Richardson or Feingold could make interesting candidates.

Honestly, I haven't heard any speeches by anyone yet, so DNC Meetings where hopefuls might speak will be interesting.

7. Yeah.
And then there's always the possibility of a "dark horse candidate" who appears to come out of nowhere.

I want to know their domestic, economic, and military philosophy. The republican party has given them a lot to work with.

5. I think there may actually be a floor fight
which will make for high drama and good TV. Not only that, it will show the world that there are enough strong Democrats out there to keep the convention from being another "coronation." Hell, the networks might even air the convention if there's a chance of that happening.

HRC is too polarizing, and I'm afraid Gore is, too—but both are certainly qualified. John Kerry, as much as I still love him, is damaged goods, IMO, thanks to that SOB Rove.

Right now, I'm going with Edwards. Two main issues that will be the focus of the next campaign are his "Two Americas,"—and the poverty and racial divide that Katrina exposed. No one can speak to those subjects better than he. And if he gets the nomination, it would not surprise me one bit if Edwards tapped Barack Obama for VP.

8. Lancer, I absolutely agree
with your assessment on John Edwards. I couldn't stop thinking about the state of our "two Americas" during the Katrina/Rita disasters and how Edwards' message is more relevant today than it was during the campaign.

9. I believe
it will be Gore with Wes Clark as VP, not because I think they are so wonderful,,,, I think there are few that can beat McCain; who is a shoo-in for the Rep. candidate... and he will be VERY tough to beat. Hillary doesn't stand a chance, she has been fallow too long and won't get the nod....
My dream team would be Pelosi and Boxer.... but it's never gonna happen.......... people are still too sexist to vote for one woman - much less two...............(not referring to us, of course...)

2006!

Guess which comes first, 2008 or 2006?

18. I voted with the Gore group
Nothing would be better than for him to get his retribution and jail the coup cabal and crime family. If he doesn't want to run Wes Clark would be great. Dean was our golden boy and should at least serve with a Gore or Clark Administration.
Hillary and Kerry can take a hike with the DLC'ers for all I care.
Feingold also holds the dark horse position. He is a Wellstone Like democrat and has the spine to stand up to the neocons at least until they Wellstone him.
Edwards would be great too. Just going through the list makes me happier that we do have a big crop to choose from. Where are the members of the Congressional Black Caucus who deserve representation?
They have been holding the repukes feet to the fire while the other dems have been sleeping. How about Conyers?
