My daughter's boyfriend just went over |
|
He is a Marine.
My daughter told me, his whack-job mother said to him, "blow up as many of them as you can and get back home".
This is the mentality that is creating terrorism. This is the mentality that looks the other way from torture. This is the mentality, via it's stupidity, that is killing our country with it's cheer-leading and support of Christo-Fascism.

Beheading is totally humane compared to being melted by White Phosphorous or napalm, or being blown up by tons of bombs.

Beheading is just as barbaric. Why does one thing have to be barbaric and the other thing not? They're both barbaric.

My MIL and FIL and all the little ILs are as evil as they come. My husband is as different from them as I am. Hubby is more like his grandpa, who was a VERY nice man. Maybe this young man takes after his grandpa.
I just hope he comes home safe and sound.

He is a good kid though.
The mom is a nutcase. I wish my daughter chose different but she is 22 years old and makes her own choices.
I did warn her about PTSD and what that might mean for her when he gets back. He is not in the infantry, he is the supply/warehouse duty, so hopefully he will not face too much horror.

41. Your details are few in order to form an opinion granted |
|
So I apologize if you took as a slam.
My opinion is not a judgement. Why did he join the marines to" just to please his parents"? What did you and your daughter think of that decision and was it discussed at the time before he signed the papers?
Have you sat down and had a long talk with him? He sounds like he could be a good but totally misguided youth, and hardly a man.
Supply is a dangerous job, don't forget that Cindy's son was a Humvee mechanic and got pushed into infantry. Jessica who was captured was a supply support personal
Morally, does your daughter and him support the war? I couldn't find that in the thread.
What did your daughter think of the statement made by his mother?
Sorry if I offended you. I really am.

...what some folks think. I mean, we spend much of our time talking to people who share our world view, or, as is my case, living surrounded by rural wingnuts, not talking at all. But this summer, I was caught in a conversation while flying from Little Rock to Cleveland. What a conversation! The man told me that the world would fine once the word "Arab" was no longer needed because they would all be gone. He said that it didn't matter if Saddam had anything to do with 911, because Iraq was as good a place as any to start the process.
This man was not rural at all; he was from NYC. Anything I said in opposition was met with his rejoinder of: Why do you hate New York?
I guess my point is: we must realize that we are surrounded by these folks even if we don't understand to what degree.
Shocked. Yes, I was shocked.
