Although, you could include it as part of a general history of science. We had that in our biology text in tenth grade. It was the chapter that talked about how people used to think snakes and worms came from horse hairs that were shed in ponds, taking a bath a bath could make you ill, and the "watchmaker" theory of the beginning of the world. Stuff like that goes along with "intelligent" design.
