Graffiti in Barcelona - Anyone know Catalon??
I need a translation. The following was spray painted on a wall on the road to Parc Guell.

"Bush, Aznar, Blair, Sharon, Berlusconi vosaltres feixistes sou el terroristes"

I saw Bush named in other graffiti here and in Madrid. I was also working with some Germans who are not fans of Bush or our policies.

Isn't it great that Bush is such a coalition builder?

1. web translator here

but all it managed to do was translate "el" to "the"

give it a try yourself, though.

4. Catalon is a strange language
Part Spanish and part French. I know some of each but the mixture makes the language barrier here difficult.

3. There's been a lot of anti-American sentiment in Spain for decades.
I remember travelling in Madrid many years before shrub and seeing anti NATO graffiti all over the place.

"OTAN NO!" (OTAN = NATO), with a picture of a skull wearing a OTAN helmet.

I'm sure the shrub being an obnoxious, imperialistic, country invading cowboy has not helped the situation any.

5. Unfortunately...
with him as president, an American here has to deal with guilt by association.

18. The difference between grafitti and tagging...
There is a lot of tagging here and in my mind it's nothing more than defacing public property. It was somehow refreshing to see political grafitti though.

You are right about one thing though. There is quite a left leaning segment of the population here. Lots of Che pictures on clothing and such.

11. vosaltres is "you (plural)"
It's the same word as vosotros in Spanish. And yes, I blieve that feixistes is "fascists."

It was the x that threw me. Should have figured that out though.

I do agree with them though.

9. I think it says,

"Bush, Aznar, Blair, Sharon, Berlusconi are all Fascist terrorists."

But I haven't heard or spoken Catalan since childhood, so I'm really just guessing.

I have a feeling that's right, though. Since it's right, anyway.

12. Yep, I think this is right
In mt "Teach yourself Catalan" book, one of the first chapters is basic verb conjugation, and "vosaltres sou" is "you (plural) are." So, I would assume that "voaltres feixistes sou" means "you (plural) fascists are."
