What issues will the Repubs run on in 2006 and 2008 ?
Will they run on the great job they are doing in Iraq? No. Will they run on the great economy? Doubtful. They will run on the social issues once again. Abortion, prayer in schools, low taxes, and against the big spending liberals with their socialist ideas about national healthcare and the Democratic weakness on defense. So, how do Democrats respond?

1. Diebold will save the day.
When your buddies count the votes, it doesn't matter if you run on issues or not.

Can't you see I'm in a cynical mood today?

4. With Funk!
Well, that might not work.

Be fun though.

I think we focus on their mismanagement - focuse on their incompetence. Don't let them control the discussion.

5. Terra', terra' terra'.
All terra', all the time. The fact that there hasn't been another attack within our borders IS PROOF that the Slugs are protecting us. :eyes: Of course, Katrina and Rita showed how poorly they were prepared to handle any domestic catastrophe, but they'll tapdance around that somehow. They'll blame it all on Blanco and Naggin.

7. I think they're ready to ply us with the Alien Crisis
No, I don't mean people immigrating from other countries. I mean outer space aliens.

A combination of clues picked up by scientists coupled with unusual spiritual signs will lead the mob to swallow the Mars Attacks Kool-Aid.

I think *Co would be positively giddy over this stunt.

8. I'd say abortion, gay marriage and prayer are for sure.
I don't think they can make it stick with "against big spending" because there will be 6-8 years of proof that they are worse than the Dems!

I happen to think the Dems should argue that the Gov't has NO BUSINESS even having an opinion on abortion! I don't understand how the Gov't got involved in that fight in the first place!!!

I'll be slammed for this position, but I think we should support equal rights for everybody (including gays) and drop the Marriage part. It seems that's the word that gets so many all excited! It would be difficult for the Pubs to argue against equal rights, which would include health benefits for partners, hospital visitations, SS partnet benefits, and inheritance rights. We should fight for some kind of legal partnership agreement, and let the churches have the marriage thing.

That leaves the National Health Care issue. Many people are very concrned about health care and how they can afford it in the future.

10. I think you are on the right track....
The Democrats remind the voters that the Repubs are always attempting to distract the people by getting their noses into the private lives of our citizens, whether it be abortion, gay rights, or religion. When, in fact, they want people to forget about Terry Schiavo, the incompetence, the disaster of the hurricanes, the soda cans full of terror, the lies, the huge debt, the high price of gasoline, and their giveaways to the oil companies, and their stock sales and money laundering, and did we say, incompetence?

11. I think there will be opposition voices in 06 from repukes
stem cell research, war plan, emergency response, national spending

Just watch....many republicans will pretend to move away from Bush (it's their only chance at winning in some states............just watch Scumtorum pretend to be in the middle.

13. I don't think Santorum will do that. He has way too much info
already out there proving his positions as a RW extremist. Hell, he wrote a damn book!

With some other Pubs, though, I agree with you. Most of the moderates will distance themselves. In fact, I think they've already begun to do so.

15. he already came out in opposition to something (intelligent design?)
and then changed his mind.

He won't win in PA if he doesn't appear more center.......... which is crazy because you can't get more fundie than him, but he'll try to oppose, then change his mind when the Christian Coalition gets angry.......... he'll basically be a clown (I think his ass is toast!)

They prefer personal attacks to talking about issues. And personal attacks, such as "flip-flopper", trump talking about the issues.
