My anti-corporate rant of the day
It is time for Americans to wake up and take back their destinies before the GOP executes any more of its "plan," which consists of driving down wages and living standards for most Americans.

The economy of America belongs to all Americans. Corporations operate with significant benefits given to them BY society. In exchange, we have a right to expect something in return. We have an absolute right to make changes -- even radical ones -- to protect our interests. What will it come to? Changing labor laws? Re-negotiating trade deals? Repealing corporate charters in extreme cases? Probably.

Change need not be radical. But unless we assert our right to make radical change, the arrogant mega-corporations will never take us seriously. As in the New Deal, it will take strong, progressive action to remind corporations that they are not the all-powerful overlords they think they are. The corporate form was created to meet the needs of society. Corporations are nothing more than creatures of civil law. And under the law, they can and should be brought into line and reminded of their duty to America.

3. That rings very true
And hey, Mussolini would have known, right? Even today, neo-fascists use the phrase "corporate state" to describe what they want to achieve.

2. There can be NO solution unless we get rid of the Congress
and all the other so-called representatives of we, the people.
The corpoRATS own them.
Remember, it was the CONGRESS that gave Bush the
authority to invade Iraq.
Nuff said.

4. No craporation should be richer than the government
Corporations having more money and assets than the governments who are supposed to regulate them is like the head coach of a football team who makes far less money than the players he coaches.

7. Yeppers
At the beginning of the century and in the 30s, two guys named Roosevelt (one was a Republican, you might recall) stepped in to remind corporations of their duty to America. We need such leaders again who can save capitalism from itself.

8. America, How Did It Come To This
America, How Did It Come To This

Corporate America
ruling
with money
buying politicians and selling out people.

A Nation hijacked with fear,
hidden truth and
buried secrets,
equal death, slavery and unhappiness for all
no matter what the sacred Document says;
bitter feuds,
APATHY
DENIAL
and subterfuge.

Corporations thriving while America is dying
and Americans barely breathing struggle to survive
hanging on to the rocky cliff with their fingernails
waiting for rescue
from this madness, such sheer insanity.

9. History is full of set-backs
Every now and then, capitalism has to be saved from itself. We are moving into such a time, IMO.

The ironic part is that, whenever we do that, the rich get EVEN richer than they wewre before. That's because wealth is not a zero-sum thing. A rising tide lifts those yachts as well as it lifts the row-boats.

10. You must see the movie The Corporation!
It explains in chilling detail why it corporations do not care about anything except for profits and how, by law, their top committment is to their shareholders, with the public good taking a back seat to everything.

And I presume you have already seen the movie Network...?

12. I've seen it
It didn't tell me anything I did not already know. But it pulled it all together in a really thought-provoking way.
