"Ex-gay" & wife begin tour of Connecticut to condemn civil unions

HUNTINGTON, Conn., Oct. 3 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Stephen Bennett, Executive Director and founder of Stephen Bennett Ministries in CT, firmly stands in direct opposition to his State's new law legalizing homosexual civil unions.

Connecticut's new law legalizing homosexual civil unions went into effect on Saturday, October 1, 2005.

Stephen Bennett is a man who once engaged in homosexuality for 11 years with over 100 male partners. He completely left the homosexual lifestyle in 1992.

Bennett is now happily married to his wife Irene of 12 years. They are the parents of two little children, a boy and a girl. They travel worldwide, full-time, educating others about the truths and dangers of homosexuality. They also help those desiring to overcome their unwanted same-sex attractions and provide support to their families.

"This is a very sad day for my home State of Connecticut. While all human beings deserve to be treated with love and respect, all behaviors do NOT need to be tolerated. Just because a State legalizes something, does not make it morally right. Contrary to my State's beliefs, homosexual behavior is far from "natural and normal." You better believe we will now even be more fervent in educating people in Connecticut and around the country about the truths and dangers of the homosexual lifestyle.

"I have two little children who are growing up in a very different world than I and my wife did. I've sadly been down the path of homosexuality and lost many friends to AIDS. I saw how my homosexual lifestyle nearly killed me - and I also know the truth that complete change is completely possible. Today I am the heterosexual man I was created to be. No one is born "gay" - and frankly, there's nothing "gay" about being "gay," said Stephen.

Stephen, his wife Irene, along with a group of other former homosexual men and women, will be begin a statewide tour of Connecticut in a series of Public Town Meetings called "Straight Talk About Homosexuality" beginning this month. The talks will also feature medical and psychological experts on the issue.

Go peddle your shit to someone who cares.

It was around number 40 that I said "Get thee behind me, Satan!" Only it wasn't Satan, it was Stan, the building superintendent. Then around number 84 or so that I thought "OK, I am really not going to do this again." Then #92 I said "I really, really, really, mean it, Satan, cut it out!"...

8. Focus on the Family had a guy like that.
He "accidentally" wandered into a gay D.C. bar on a visit to the capitol. That's what he claimed. He was just looking for the bathroom.

He was married to an "ex" lesbian and they had a couple of children. They both worked for Focus in a similar outreach capacity. I wish the fundies wouldn't do that to people.

If he wants to get involved in other people's sex lives we should get involved in his. Lets find out if he's really not gay. And I remember about that about the guy with the gay bar. Oh yes I'm sure it was such an accident. :eyes: And also I remember reading that the two guys who created that Christian Exodus gay program ran off together too! LOL!

(On edit)

Wayne Besen's blog mentioned this guy and Wayne encouraged readers "Take a good look at this guy's picture. If you have seen him at a Connecticut gay bar or cruising gay pick-up spots or online, please contact me, so he can be exposed as a hypocrite." (http://www.waynebesen.com/index.html)

I wonder if this guy is getting paid to go around and say his nonsense.
While I'm a Christian I get really tired of these people going around and telling everyone and their brother/sister they're going to hell if they don't act just like they do. I could care less if someone else is gay. These people are nothing but selfish and taking away freewill from other people who don't want anything to do with religion. If you think you're an ex-gay and can change then go for it. I could care less but don't go around and spread lies and be a hypocrite about it.

16. That is sad...
To let somebody else twist you in knots, first of all, and then to traipse around meddling in other people's business...awful.

Gay marriage opponents are loathe to say the word religion directly, but that's what they mean. We all know church and state are supposed to be separate. The anti-gay marriage argument falls apart on legal grounds, so opponents have to push some kind of fake scare about 'public morality.' Whatever that means.

Life in Denmark, Canada and the commonwealth of Massachusetts appears to be proceeding normally and happily. They haven't fallen into the sea since gay marriage became legal. But don't let the truth stop anyone!

I believe one day equality will get here. But people like Stephen Bennett make it a teeth-grindingly difficult process to endure until then.

If you stand long enough on the street corner and listen to the preacher, he's always a reformed something or other. It's more entertaining and gives him street cred with the sinners.

Cuz I don't think you can do it with a hundred guys and be working out a temporary fancy or just experimenting.

Hey, if he wants to delude himself into thinking that he's no longer gay...fine, whatever. It's his life.

But he seriously needs to shut the fuck up and mind his own goddamned fucking business when it comes to MY life....and that of my GLBT brothers and sisters in Connecticut...and elsewhere...who should get the same rights as the rest of Americans. Miss thing has turned her back on the GLBT community...and he needs to just fucking shut up and live his life as a "straight" man.

People need to butt out of other people's businesses. I get so tired of all these people trying to butt into my life with sex. That's all they care about! I think they need to get laid and/or learn how to masterbate or something. They're trying to make this whole thing about religion but it's not. It's about the law and being respected as an equal. I'm not gay and don't have the desire to be gay but why should I be more important to my government because I'm straight, white and a Christian?

'You Gotta Have A Gimmick' Lyrics from "Gypsy"

... you too, can be a star

Mazeppa

You can pull all the stops out
Till they call the cops out
Grind your behind till you're bend.
But you gotta get a gimmick
If you wanna get a hand.
You can sacrifice your sacharo
Working in the back row.
Bump in a dump till you're dead.
Kid you gotta have a gimmick
If you wanna get ahead.
You can uh...You can uh...
You can uh...uh...uh...
That's how Burlesque was born.
So I uh...and I uh...
And I uh...uh...uh...
But I do it with a horn...
Once I was a Schleppa,
Now I'm Miss Mazzeppa,
With my revolution in dance.
You gotta have a gimmick
If you wanna have a chance!

Electra

She can uh... She can uh...
She can uh...uh...uh...
They'll never make her pitch.
Me, I uh... and I uh...
And I uh...uh...uh...
But I do it with a switch.
I'm electrifying
And I ain't even trying.
I never had to sweat to get paid
'Cause if you got a gimmick
Gypsy girl, you got it made.

Tessie Tura

All them uh and then uh...
And that uh...uh...uh...
Ain't gonna spell success.
Me, I uh... and I uh...
And I uh...uh...uh...
But I do it with finesse.
Lady Tura is so much more then purer
Than all them other ladies because-
You gotta get a gimmick
If you wanna get applause.

ALL

Do something special
Anything special
And you'll get better because
Come on and just do mimic
When you gotta gimmick
Take a look how different we are!

Electra

If you wanna make it,
Twinkle while you shake it.

Tura

If you wanna grind it,
Wait till you refined it.

Mazeppa

If you wanna stump it,
Bump it with a trumpet!

ALL

Get yourself a gimmick and you too,
Can be a star!

27. Qs. for heterosexual men out there:
I'm female and my male partner insists there isn't a way in hell that he could have a sexual encounter with another man and not call himself gay and insists that a real hetero couldn't get himself to be with another man, specially as an adult.

How the hell does Bennett convinces himself he isn't gay? What kind of psycho babble you have to do to yourself to actually carry such an effort out to bring yourself to deny it after over 100 acts? I believe he is still enjoying the experiences...How couldn't he?

33. It's all a matter of semantics ...
A straight guy who goes to prison and engages in sex with other males doesn't see himself as anything but straight because he was fantasizing about his wife or girlfriend while his cellmate Bubba was playing 'bob for apples' in his lap.

But a gay guy who "claims" to be an ex-gay counts himself as straight even if he has to fantasize about Matt Damon's bubble butt or Brad Pitt's six-pack abs while he's boffing the little missus.

"Ex-gays" who marry an opposite sex partner are a rarity. To the fundies that run these ministries, "ex-gay" means you no longer engage in homosexual behavior. It doesn't mean one has gone from gay to straight. For the majority, that means forcing themselves to be celibate.

One of the main problems with these programs is that they only count sexual behavior. Thus they include in their numbers of ex-gays people who fight their sexual orientation to remain celibate and those who fantasize about same-sex partners to facilitate sex with opposite-sex partners.

Why Do All These Homosexuals Keep Sucking My Cock?

By Bruce Heffernan
October 28, 1998 | Issue 34•13

Look, I'm not a hateful person or anything–I believe we should all live and let live. But lately, I've been having a real problem with these homosexuals. You see, just about wherever I go these days, one of them approaches me and starts sucking my cock.

(I'n editing out the rest of this article. On review, it's pretty raunchy, and anyone with MY sense of humor can use the link)

Oh and people aren't "born gay"? Maybe he can explain my sons tendancies to wear his mothers clothes and play with Barbie dolls. Since he was about 2... It's self-righteous assholes like this that cause the high rate of suicides among gays. Fuck him. If he doesn't like gays then he doesn't have to let them in his "church". When the fuck are these losers going to figure out that this country was not founded on their fantasy morals?

34. How sad that a movement (Christian Right) uses self hating mentally ill
people to do their dirty work.

There is a growing industry amongst the religious rightwingers to prey on unhappy, badly adjusted gay people to convince them that Jesus can somehow make them straight.

How utterly pathetic.

42. Live & Let Live?????
Although I have SERIOUS doubts about the legitimacy of the whole so-called "ex-gay" movement, what they choose to do with their lives is their god-given right but why is it that they feel that they have the duty/obligation to go around telling everybody else that they have to make the same choice or seek to deprive people who feel at peace with their gayness and like themselves JUST AS THEY ARE of the same rights and freedoms that they (now) take for granted? Is it too much to ask that they just mind their own business and let other people mind theirs?

47. Was it somma that goooood lovin???
Well, from James Dobson we know that a leading cause of homosexuality is lack of manly role models for little boys, hence his clear directive for men to shower with boys so they can see "big" (eye of the beholder) penises and show that manly manliness is what its all about.

In this case, we dont' have enough information...Did he see any manly penises when young? At what age does viewing a manly penis still work to protect you from being gay? Why isn't it that gay guys, who may have a pretty good knowledge of what a manly penis is, not become cured? What makes for a 'manly penis'? A moustache? Attitude?

then the wife...Is it her stunning femininity that cured him? Was it her submission to his manly will? Has she ever seen a manly penis? What would that do to her?

49. Mind your own business. Nobody minded yours.
I doubt you two would have liked it if the law preventing you from marrying on the grounds that one of you had been gay--especially if the grounds were "faith-based." Kindly show your fellow Americans the same courtesy--it's the patriotic thing to do.
