Are there any Ed Schultz Dems here? Meaning... |
|
Any former Republicans who converted to Democrat?
My brother did about a year ago. I think I mentioned it to the board. One of the things he shared with me, which I thought was pretty cool, was how his transformation "felt like a huge weight had been lifted" from his back.
It is better to hear him tell the story, but I wonder if there are others out there?

2. I've been a democrat, if not a socialist, since my early teens. So I don't |
|
really know how you feel. But I can imagine that, all of a sudden, things must seem to fall into place and make sense to you.
When I watch too much MSM and hang around people who only get their information from these sources, nothing seems to fit together and follow from anything other than the chanted talking points.
But when I read original sources and put together facts and time lines from alternative news sources there is sudddenly a logical explanation for why things happen the way they do. I just can't imagine not questioning and digging for answers.

4. I converted to Dem shortly after the 2000 election, when I saw the |
|
corruption of a government that hadn't even been elected. Seeing the courts get involved in an election that Gore won turned me instantly.

5. I think many men are misled into thinking Repukes are "manly" |
|
and Dems are not.
Which is crazy. I still don't understand it.
Particularly since Bush, Cheney, O'Reilly, Rush and the lot are a bunch of scaredy cats when it came to Vietnam service.

9. I think your right they do think it's manly |
|
but most of the sheep are ignorant . Not to say they are stupid. They just don't have the life experiences, education or culture to broaden their thoughts. Basicly they have no ability to empathize. They just don't care and their mothers never loved them.

6. I went from republican leaning conservative-independant to Democrat |
|
To me the change happened when I realized that the Republicans had a chance to take the potential of 9-11 and make a good thing for America of it and instead started turning us down he road of a complete fascist movement. I declared myself democrat on the day the Iraq war started.

I was raised Republican. I enlisted in the Marine Corps. I've hunted & owned Guns. (I don't now I live in the city and have no use for them) I was enlightend by many liberal friends.
I came to relize the hypocracy of caring deeply for America and then supporting political candidates who didn't.
I been poor and lived among the have nots. It frustrated me (and still does) to see the Republicans Demonizing the poor while they line their pockets by taking advantage of them.
Growing up I heard " Those Welfare Moms are stealing our tax money." all the time. Mean while my mothers US West pention was being pilferd by greedy executives.
She is still a Republican.
I'm not. (Liberal since 1989}

it was a gradual process. Part of it consisted of reading about ten Noam Chomsky books and finding out the half of American history and international news I had been missing.
