Conyers on the Delphi bankrupcy
Delphi HQ is in Rep. Conyers' district.

On a more local level, there is bad economic news in Detroit. Delphi, the largest parts supplier in the nation filed for bankruptcy, and it is having a domino impact on GM. The causes are myriad -- but here's two -- the lack of a national health care plan places our manufacturers at a massive disadvantage compared to overseas firms. Also, there is no doubt that Delphi felt it had to file this week to avoid the harsh requirements of the new GOP special interest bankruptcy bill which is scheduled to take effect Oct. 17.
