10. do you all know how this is done? it's pretty simple.

with a concerted effort, we can control the results of any google search term.

it takes a coordinated effort among webmasters, people who run websites.

one of the algorithms that controls the search results is "linked pages."

in other words, if I have a website, and I have a link that says "Click here for asshole" and it links to George Bush's website, that's a linked page, using the search term in the link.

if hundreds of other people had a similar link on their website, it would have an affect on the google search result.

if thousands of other people did this on purpose on thousands of websites, when people type in "asshole" at Google, Bush's website would come up near the top.

when something like this happens, it's one of two things, either a lot of webmasters think George Bush is an asshole, or there has been a coordinated effort to affect the search results. It is highly unlikely that the "folks at Google made it happen". if you look at the other results I think you'll find that Michael Moore is close behind GWB.


note... that's how to affect the regular google search. the "i'm feeling lucky thing" is completely different. I think that is a paid advertisement where people pay to have their website come up when specific terms are input for the "lucky" search. try the asshole and miserable failure searches on the regular google search and you'll see what i'm talking about.
