1. Is that about Clinton?
Or early Bush?

early Bush could never admit a mistake; Clinton did admit mistakes and weaknesses on occasion.

3. What?
I think the point of the cartoon is about Bush true believers, who certainly would like to go back to before their hero had feet of clay.

But obviously I'd rather have Clinton back.

7. There is no implication that Bush was a good leader made in the ...
... cartoon.

The cartoonm seems to mock the "kool aide" induced desires of Chimp supporters. (IMO)

8. I agree that it could be taken either way.
But I think the sub-rosa context is Clinton, even if the
President the woman wants back is the Blustering Bush.

18. No, it can't be taken either way
Clinton wasn't into denial the way Bush has always been--not even close. The only things he ever denied doing was stupid BS like inhaling marijuana and getting a blowjob, not the important stuff.

9. Not about Clinton
This is all about bush.....

"You want your old pResident back, the one who believed his own stories. . . "Bring back denial department".

How could you possibly think this was about Clinton?

14. Who cares?
We all lie. That's a small and human lie about something that is none of our business. We all have the right to obfuscate for that.

Bush lies constantly and egregiously about extremely important things. And you're suggesting one is equal to the other?

15. No I'm suggesting that...
> And you're suggesting one is equal to the other?

No, I'm suggesting that a President who gets caught in a casual
(and stupid) lie, *THEREBY DISABLING HIMSELF AND HIS ENTIRE PARTY
FOR THE NEXT DECADE OR SO BY HANDING HIS ENEMIES ALL THE AMMUNITION
THEY NEED TO DEMOLISH HIM* wasn't really the best friend of
progressives.

Bush has thousands of allies willing to lay waste to their honor
and reputations in order to defend his lies.

Clinton had thousands of enemies just waiting to pounce on his
every lie and peccadilo and he knew this and he lied anyway.

16. Clinton is a far better friend to human beings than Bush is
Progressive or not (and Clinton was actually conservative more than not), he at least held basic values that all Americans share. I don't care who he was playing pass the cigar with, I care that 70% of the American public didn't give a damn the day after he was impeached. That's what the regressives can't stand. MOST people understand the fine distinctions that so-called "conservatives" don't seem able to comprehend.

Bill Clinton might have been a low-grade demon, but Bush is the Devil himself. That's the difference.

11. It's obviously about Bush.
I was a little puzzled when I read the subject, and then the cartoon. I was looking for one more panel that had something to do with Clinton. It's Bush.

As if some miracle COULD occur and Clinton could return to office... We can only dream unfortunately.

There is nothing here to even remotely indicate Clinton is part of this at all. It is a good one about bush and his kool-aid followers and wanting the 'old' false bush instead of the 'new' false bush.

23. Clinton? I can't read him into that one at all...
The "old president" is referring to the "infallible" Bush, the one who couldn't think of any mistakes (remember that classic press conference?) he'd made, who "believed his own stories" i.e., things are going good in Iraq, the economy is booming etc... As opposed to the new president who has to take responsibility since things are so bad "even he has to admit it."

24. Nope, it's not about Clinton....
The "old" president is Bush who was always right--that was infuriating. But events have sprung a leak in his 100% obliviousness--like a hole in a neglected levee.

Some of us don't blame Clinton.
