Are the Dixie Chicks still banned from your local radio?
Driving in this morning after hearing a gung ho war song(David Worley's 'Have you forgetton?( or better known as 'I'm lying about Saddam = 911') I realized I hadn't heard a Dixie Chick tune on any of KC's country radio stations in a long long time.

The last was 'Travling soldier' right before their comments which inspired a CD burning by a local station. The same local station is currently pimping patriots some more with new commercials they have out including a few families waving flags and a marine saluting the flag etc..

So are the Dixie Chicks still out to pasture in your town?

1. I'm a DJ at a Country Station...
and the Dixie Chicks are back in light rotation at our station. When I'm on the air, I usually replace Toby Keith and Darryl Whorley with the Chicks.

4. Mr. DJ: a question
Have the Chicks come out with any new CDs lately? I've seen a few(?) live performance CDs, but nothing new. The last DC CD I bought was "Home." I REALLY like their music.

2. They haven't been on Atlanta country stations since
exercising their Constitutional rights and being blacklisted for it and I haven't listened to a country station in Atlanta since then. I wasn't a big country music fan before, but I'm certainly not now - although I do now own every Dixie Chicks album they've put out. Good stuff..........Sin Wagon......'mattress dancin'.......hahahahahahaha!!!!

5. Clear Channel decides who gets played
When corporate giant Clear Channel decides there is money to be made by letting the Dixie Chicks back on the radio, we might hear their songs again. This is all about how corporate interests have the power to override the Bill of Rights- and how they do it with the encouragement of the government.

18. I have to agree - just because they're singing progressive songs
doesn't mean I have to jump on the bandwagon.

Case in point: I really hate the Rolling Stones, well anything the stones have done since Some Girls. I feel their music has become irrelevant because basically they're putting out commercial pop music instead of the innovated stuff they did back in the 70s.

This latest album has a song called 'Sweet Neo-Con' that some progressive thinkers are 'oohing' and 'ahhing' over because the Stones rip into fundies. Personally, I think the Stones are just desperate for album sales and knows that Bush-bashing songs sell well (like with Green Day's 'AMerican Idiot' - that album is pushing towards 10million sold).

So just because the Stones are trying to cater to our market doesn't mean I have to buy it

14. I don't know if they're officially banned, but haven't heard 'em ...
...for years on ANY of the country stations in Lubbock. Natalie Mains is from Lubbock, and the city runs a promotional video that interestingly mentions Mac Davis and Buddy Holly by name with a clip of each, then talks about "many other artists"...about four clips in they show one of the Dixie Chicks, but they don't mention who they are. Additionally, the Chicks clip is short and old, so you might not associate them with the current Chicks.

So my conclusion is that in Lubbock at least, the Chicks are banned.

22. There are very few real artists in Nashville that I respect.
The rest of them are right wing bigots who demonized us. I'd love to take the Opry down with "my cold bare hands"! :D

After that incident, I decided that this is war and that we must boycott our opponents as a means of bringing them down.
