If you wanted to go to war with Iran...
You would first get an alliance with the biggist country in the area, Saudi Arabia. Then make an aliance with a country on the other side of Iran, Pakastan. Then start taking over countries along the border or who would cause you to fight on multiple fronts, Afganistan, Iraq, Syria. The little ones don't matter so much.

1. If you wanted to force Iran's hand diplomatically...
and didn't care what other countries you harmed, you'd do the same thing, though.

4. If I wanted to go to war with Iran I would be an imperialist asshat.

as such I would probably just trump some shit up and rush into it before the anti-war movement grew any larger. You know what they always like to say, "It may have been a mistake. But, we're here now."

I'd also probably go beat the shit our of Chavez and take some more valuable crude to inject straight into my evil greedy veins!

9. How about the Caspian Basin Oil Deposits as motive instead of war
I am sure they are prepared to use US military might to accomplish their oil theft but as far as staging war against Iran I think it is a last ditch part of the plan. Iraq and Afghanistan were top priority also making friends with Turkmenistan, Usbekistan, and Kazakhstan so to allow US troops in the area. Give us the oil and we won't go to war with you is the message being sent out...

11. If I wanted to go to war with Iran...
...I probably shouldn't have fucked all up the army with a war in Iraq. But then I was never that bright to begin with.
