MEME: Culture of Corruption is central GOP belief
the current obvious cronyism should not be a surprise--it is the logical extension of core GOP beliefs in deregulation, privatization, low taxes on the rich and corporations, and weak labor and environmental laws here and abroad.

This is not an ideology even in it's purest form, but a giveaway of our country and our reputation to a very few, who are using it like a piece of toilet paper, that they will soon toss in the bowl and replace with a clean sheet.

Some in the GOP are sincere in believing that limited government is going to do more people more good, but it will be more effective and accurate to deal with the GOP as whole as if corruption and cronyism are the only agenda--because it is.

1. Agree. Less regulation and oversight...
Means more corruption and criminal behavior. How is that so hard for some people to understand?

3. Those people who believe that less government will do more
are the little guys that need a reason to keep voting for idiots.
They should just come out and say daddy voted republican so therefore I vote republican

4. The GOP has become a criminal racket
The entire point of the GOP nowdays is to enrich GOP capos. Everything else (the "values" rants, the "spreading democracy" jive, etc...) is just cover for their rackets.

They use government the same way that the Italian mob uses restaurants and the coin-op cigarette machine business.

5. If Conservatives Believe That Government Is Inherently Corrupt
If so-called "conservatives" believe that "big gummint" is inherently corrupt, why should it be surprising that once these very same "conservatives" control the government, they feel "empowered" to govern corruptly themselves?

It looks rather obvious to us progressives. Maybe it will take the Freeperstanis a bit longer to think it through in their caravanserai.
