O'Reilly wants Syrian leader assassinated if he doesn't do as told

http://mediamatters.org/items/200510040005

O'Reilly endorsed assassinating Syrian leader if he "doesn't help us out"

On the October 3 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly called for the assassination of Syria's leader, Bashar al-Assad, if Assad does not help promote stability in the Middle East by maintaining Iraq's borders. O'Reilly claimed that "we could take his life, and we should take his life if he doesn't help us out." O'Reilly was responding to Fox News contributor Gen. Wesley Clark's suggestion that the United States use diplomacy to bolster regional support for the Iraq war among uncooperative neighbors.

-snip-

(from interview)

O'REILLY: All right. Well, Syria, I think you can probably make a deal -- is you spare Bashar's life if he cooperates with us. I agree with you.

<...>

O'REILLY: All right. So let's sum up. So you want to -- you want to --

CLARK: Take that common interest, and build out of it a regional dialogue, and let the United States then train the Iraqi forces, step back as the guarantor of regional security in the region, and then let each of these countries guarantee Iraq's border, and let their --

O'REILLY: All right. It's an optimistic viewpoint that they would do that.

CLARK: It's a possible viewpoint, Bill.

O'REILLY: North Korea proves that, although we don't know if North Korea is going to do what they say they're going to do. So it's a dangerous world. But look, I'm not opposed to having conversations with Syria and Iran to try to help us out over there, but I don't -- Syria, I think you could do it, because as you said, you know, it's Bashar's life. I mean, we could take his life, and we should take his life if he doesn't help us out. Iran -- different nut.

and did Clark jump up and take O'Reilly to task for saying such a thing? of course not, that would stray from the script.

O'Reilly and Clark are nasty men.

5. Where do these assholes get the gaul
How can Robertson and O'Reilly call for the assasination of leaders of soveriegn nations on television and not be arrested, or at least warned, for making terrorist threats? If anyone of us said that about the Chimporer, we'd be in prison tomorrow. Where is the gaul of democrats in the spotlight, not to bring this up? Where is the fuckin' DA with some balls to levee charges? WTF. Can someone make a citizen's arrest. Can someone report him to the FBI or HLS.
Let's call for the killing of Robertson and O'Reilly, they can do it, why can't we? WTF

7. Why doesn't testerostone-imbalanced Billy Boy strap on his
sniper rifle, go out to the garage and kick the shit out of his "heavy bag" then sneak into Syria and off the evil bastard?

Surely Bill O'Really, the nemesis of evil doers the world over could make quick work of this bad person, or is he just talking out his chicken-shit ass again?

8. You don't get it. This is DELIBERATE.
Pat Robertson and Felafel boy aren't the only ones touting assassination as an acceptable foreign policy ploy, guys. Limbaugh has talked about it, as have many other Bush shills.

First, they don't care if you are shocked. You are supposed to be shocked a teensy bit. Then they repeat it the next day, and its not so shocking. Then it's repeated a few days later and although it bothers you, its really just something they talk about.

Then you hear that it might have happened. At first you are shocked, but then the talking heads are all denying it, and the administration is denying it, then you hear that well, maybe it did happen and maybe it didn't and maybe we were behind it or maybe it was rogue elements...

...and anyway, you've got a mortgage to pay and kids to feed and all this assassination talk is getting kind of old...

...and that Chavez guy, I mean, what was he to you, anyway? And what difference did it really make, to you personally, I mean? And won't it be better if we can just elect more Democrats?

And if we take them to the mat on every single issue every single time, doesn't it get old? I mean, we opposed the torture, we opposed the assassinations, we opposed the repeal of our habeas corpus protections, we opposed the dumming down of our media, we opposed the war...next thing you know we'll be opposing the camps.

I mean really.
