Most pathetic Freeper argument?
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 07:18 PM by SammyBlue
Fellow DUers, please present to me the most asshole-ish and insane Freeper argument against any bogeyman they hate.

I want to see how I would debunk them, and how you did too.

Thanks.

On edit: Editted the title.

4. FARAFIELD
There are so many, recently the thing with the school buses in NO. If the freaking bus drivers were told to evacuate them who was supposed to stay to and drive them. Besides the buses were only underwater because of the flood, which means they wouldnt have been able to be used to evactuate the town, since the people who need to get out were only there because the town had flooded which in turn made the buses useless.

Or how about armstrong "wanna buy my credibility" william's agenda? Or how about matt "pump that story" drudge's agenda?

13. Clinton got a BJ.
Or similar (Clinton was immoral, etc.) in response to any criticism whatsoever of the current administration.

It's amazing how Clinton's sins magically absolved every future president of any wrongdoing they might ever commit. And how he is to blame for everything that ever goes wrong in America (Clinton created insomnia and losing football teams!!!! Not to mention burned microwave popcorn and squeaky floors!!!!!)

At this point, I think he has achieved god-like status with the Freeper population - Clinton can do absolutely anything as long as it's bad. And it drives me nuts. They're like insane obsessive cultists about the man. (Note to any lurking Freepers - HE WASN'T THAT INTERESTING! MOVE ON ALREADY!)

24. Dear Lord. What nutheads.
I saw this rerun of a City Confidential episode the other day that focused on a murder in Fresno from the '80s. Listening to the commentary about the "culture" in that city--which in no small way leads people to become white collar criminals--went a long way toward explaining to me how it could have given birth to a site such as FR.

40. Hell, Laura Ingraham said it on Hannity's show just two days ago!!
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 01:20 PM by VolcanoJen
Th outrageous lie that "Plame outed herself" is far from dead. In fact, I expect them to float it even more blatantly once the indictments are in.

Ignoring Novak's July 2003 column, Ingraham suggested Plame compromised her own undercover status in Jan. 2004 - Media Matters

On the October 11 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, nationally syndicated radio host Laura Ingraham misleadlingly suggested that White House senior adviser Karl Rove could not have "outed" CIA operative Valerie Plame as an undercover agent because her identity was already known after she appeared "in Vanity Fair with her scarf and her sunglasses on." In fact, syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak -- citing two "senior administration officials," one of whom reportedly was Rove -- publicly broke Plame's cover in his July 14, 2003, column. But as Media Matters for America has noted, Plame appeared in the January 2004 edition of Vanity Fair. The photograph of Plame "with her scarf and her sunglasses on" was taken on November 18, 2003.

any refineries from being built for the last 20-30 years."

(Of course, the real reason the refineries weren't built was b/c the oil companies kept them from being built, and b/c the existing refineries have been greatly enlarged/expanded during that period.)

27. Freeper (in 2004): "Are you going to join the College Republicans?"
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 01:42 AM by strategery blunder
Me: No

Freeper: Republicans are pro-life

I then proceed to list a whole bunch of counterexamples...

Freeper: Abortion

Me: Ending abortion would destroy the Republican Party because they would have nothing left to run on, therefore, Republican politicians only pay lip service to overturning Roe v Wade

Freeper: W is a godly man

Me: He is a Pharisee (I start citing GASP!!--THE GOSPELS!!)

Freeper gives up (this was an IM conversation) and gets his sister on the computer...

Freeper's sister: Abortion

Me: It's not like the Republican Party actually cares about saving the unborn...they only care about getting into office to pay off corporate donors

Freeper's sister: You are a baby-killer:rofl:

29. so we shouldn't have done anything after 9/11?!?!
i love that argument.

i've heard it a few times while arguing that attacking iraq wasn't related to 9/11.
follow the logic: since i don't advocate attacking iraq, i must be in favor of doing nothing. (actually, i was in favor of finding the people who did it and killing them and all their friends, and for seriously dealing with countries that were involved and making it so noone wanted to risk messing with us again-in an honest way)

the other thing that bothers me whenever i get into discussions about the war or bush&co with certain people, i get called a "liberal".

i am mostly anti-bush. i never vote party lines and i don't consider myself a democrat, and i don't consider myself a liberal. (i'm registered independent and supported kerry because he wasn't bush). usually i fall in the middle of most socio-political issues. it kills me when i am discussing (or arguing) about bush and his war and people respond with "YOU LIBERALS....".

give me a break, please. it only shows that they think in very basic terms and without someone providing labels and talking points they have no argument.

37. I DON"T CARE!
Hard to pick just one. So here are two that I get frequently nowadays.

Shrub not finding WMDs doesn't matter becuase I never cared about WMDs anyway. Shrub didn't lie about WMDs becuase that wasn't the reason I thought we should invade Iraq.

The Republicans aren't dominated by the religouse Right becuase I am not personally a member of the religous right.

or how about the 'I'm not but I play one on TV" argeument?

it goes... nLiberals HATE God and oppress those who do believe and outlaw prayer in school and this country was founded on Christian values and the Republicans are the best party and Shrub is right and any time a Republican gets cgharged with breaking the law it's just a partisan witch hunt... OH, BUT I"M NOT A REPUBLICAN OR A CHRISTIAN! You can't accuse ME of partisanship!

And I have seen cons use these kind sof arguements until peopel just get sick of them and stop responding. The con then uses this as 'PROOF" that he has won the arguement and is right.

Even today I am amazed at how Shrub apologists can use thier stupidity as a means to debate somebody.
