A Nice 2 Party System
Think how nice it would be in this country to have a 2 party political system. Imagine a system in which there was a conservative party which represented sound fiscal policy and a minimalist approach to regulation and general governance contrasted by a more liberal party devoted to the societal needs of the working man and woman. They could call themselves something like the Conservatives and Labor, much like in Great Britain.

Some might argue that we already have those two partys in our Republicans and Democrats. I would say not. Tell me what part of the Republican party voices sound financial management of the nation and moderate approach to Government intrusion into individual or even state's concerns? And who could reasonably argue that today's Democratic Party in any way works to enhance the quality of life of everyman or gives a hoot in hell about the state of labor in this country?

Independent partys, and goodness knows there are plenty of them, are more like cults than anything recognizable as a political machine but their irrelevance is overshadowed considerably by the simple fact that we do not form coalition governments in this country.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my rant. I'll listen to yours now if you like.

3. I think
the best two parties are the dress up parties and birthday parties, because they have lots of cake.

4. It's NOT the 2 party system it's that US Citizens don't participate.
I am not saying this is a perfect system but it worked a hell of a long time just fine when citizens actually participated and did their civic duty. I get tired of hearing all the complaints about the "system" and the excuses about why we don't participate. APATHY (Who cares it doesn't matter if I vote they are all the same anyway). SELFISHNESS (I am busy). LAZINESS (it takes too much time to be informed).

5. Ventura says two party system is one more than communist

The two party system is the mechanism by which we are locked into submission by the powerful. All that would be needed to break this is to require a majority in all elections.

Were you ever in school and the teacher called for the class to vote saying the majority rules? Well, in this system you do not need a majority to win. In NC, you only need 40% which means a third-party does not get a chance even if it would finish second.

It is time to end Largest Minoriy Rules and require a majority in all elections. A direct vote for president is also badly needed.
