7. Harriet's birthday card to Bush
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 08:21 PM by malaise
and his response apparently on her birthday. This is too good.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2005/10/10/204301.shtml
<snip>
In 1997, Miers sent to Bush a late birthday card featuring a sad-looking dog and the note: "Dear Governor GWB, You are the best Governor ever - deserving of great respect!" She added, "At least for thirty days - you are not younger than me."
Bush wrote back to wish Miers a happy 52nd birthday, telling her that he appreciated her friendship and that she should "never hold back your sage advice." He ended the note with a postscript: "No more public scatology."

Later that year, in October, Miers wrote a note to Bush saying that she hopes the Bush twins, Jenna and Barbara, recognize that their parents are "cool."

8. Here's Miers's birthday note and Bush's soon-to-be-famous postscript
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 08:23 PM by Angry Girl
"You are the best governor ever - deserving of great respect!" she wrote in 1997, in a belated birthday note that was typical of the tone she used in her correspondence with then-Gov. Bush.

<snip>

Bush responded to her birthday wish in kind, and included a humorous, if baffling, postscript.

"I appreciate your friendship and candor. Never hold back your sage advice," he wrote. "P.S. No more public scatology." Whether Bush was referring to Miers' rough-and-tumble time as chairwoman of the Texas Lottery Commission or something else isn't clear. Scatology refers to "the study of or preoccupation with excrement or obscenity," according to Webster's dictionary.

but it sounds like it might just be an inside joke. perhaps shrub had recently chastised her for using the word "sh*t" too often...?

13. No way!
Scenario 1: Harriet Meirs, WASPY white lady, was cussing up a storm in public.

Scenario 2: Harriet Meirs, confirmed religious case, was talking about Revelations and that angry-god, end-of-the-world stuff in public.

----
Scenario 1: Bush think the lady talks like a sailor and is embarrassed in front of his frat brothers. He knows how to spell and use the word "scatology."

Scenario 2: Bush thinks she shouldn't be so openly hell-and-brimstone because it alienates his core constituency (and hers). He's heard the word "eschatology" and knows what it means but doesn't know how to spell or pronounce it.

Which is more likely?

17. you don't think it's possible
that shrub was deliberately conflating eschatology and scatology?

scenario 3: miers uses the word "eschatology" in a speech. shrub has never heard that word, but has heard of "scatology", since that's probably his favorite form of humor. shrub teases her about it in a card.

I about choked on this one...
I'm thinking that many Texans who claim the Bush Crime Family as their pride & joy, must be damned embarrassed.

Maybe they should think of renaming their beloved "George Bush Freeway" something like the "Bush poop shoot."
HA .....

12. Well, ya know, Hitler was big into
scat, (not the Louis Armstrong kind) and we liberals are always telling ourselves, "I will NOT compare Cheney to Hitler… I will NOT compare KKKarl to Hitler; that's too easy, etc."

But then Harry and Chimpy come and hand it to us on a silver platter.

It doesn't get much better than this, folks.
