Heads in the Sand
I have several other boards I visit, and one of them has a strict delineation between their "general discussion" area and their political area. Unlike DU, however, there are many--far too many--who don't dare venture into the political forum at all, almost afraid to do so.

I think anyone who has an aversion to politics needs to get with the program. How can these people actually justify NOT becoming involved with the world as it exists right now, by avoiding the one factor which has influenced almost everything? How can these people justify remaining ignorant of what is going on around them?

Instead of us hating our opposites in the repuke party, I think it is more important--nay, MOST important, to try and find out why these other people are unwilling to invest themselves into the everyday workings of life. I think it is IMPERATIVE that we find ways to involve them in the process, and tell them WHY it is so important. It is only when they can equate their lives with what is happening in D.C. that they might see the whole picture better, instead of burying their heads in the sand.
