Since we're going to teach Intelligent Design with Evolution |
|
We might as well:
Teach Alchemy with Chemistry
Teach Phrenology with Neurology
Teach Astrology with Astronomy
Teach the Brahe theory of the Universe (Earth Centered) with the Copernicus Theory (Not Earth Centered)
Teach Old-School Anatomy (The spleen controls the emotions and the brain cools the blood) with the modern version
Who's up for it?

3. I think any DU parents of school-age children |
|
ought to start organizing and making noise about including alchemy et al in the school program. It would make national news, and the point, immediately.
Good idea!

4. Actually, Tycho Brahe proposed a very interesting hybrid model |
|
of the solar system where all the planets (except the earth) orbit the sun and then the sun and planets orbit the immobile earth at the center. I use to talk a little about this model in my history of cosmology class. :-)

Not an hour ago my 14 year old son asked me my opinion on (his words) evolution vs. adam and eve.
Curious about what they are teaching our kids (really I'm not sure what questions to ask to know what politics are being taught via "opinion"), I asked, "What do you think?" without voicing any opinion.
He said, "Evolution, of course." I mentioned without betraying any opinion, that they are going to teach "adam and eve" AND evolution in class. I asked what he thought about it, he said evolution should be taught in class, and adam and eve should be taught in church. Sounds reasonable to me. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to share.
The discussion that brought this up interestingly enough came from trickle down. Not in the classroom, but with peers.

7. Glad to see you're son is a bright individual |

I have no problem with the Creationist Theory, it's just that's it belongs in the church, not in the SCIENCE classroom.
If we're talking about a "Origin of Life" course, I'm fine with Intelligent Design being discussed. But I wouldn't want multivariable calculus in my english course!
