Meanwhile on Commander in Chief |
|
with Genna Davis as the president.. I wonder whether the Peter Coyote character, her selection for V.P. is written after Wes Clark... more or less.

1. I never thought of that. Could be. |

I really like this new show! I faithfully watch West Wing too, but I must say, as the show signed off tonight, I asked myself which one I like better! I don't know!!!
I love the idea that Commander in Chief is showing people what it would be like to actually have an Independent elected. There's bitter enemies on all sides!

4. And... they selected Davis because she is so tall |
|
how can any woman intimidate the snake of a speaker if she cannot tower over him? And athletic, I think that she qualified for the Olympics and, of course, can be as militant as any man.
Like President Bartlett of the West Wing she is a Nobel laureate (economics, I would guess.. a small fact) and a former chancellor. Someone who can continue speaking even if her TelePrompTer "malfunctions" or purposefully straying from it, without hesitation.
It happened in real life to Clinton once when he addressed Congress, State of the Union, I think. The teleprompter was not working so he just gave his speech anyway, until it was fixed.
Can one imagine Bush being able to articulate anything without Rover whispering in his ear?

6. She was an archery champion. |

Bush would be completely lost if his Teleprompter ever stopped working. I bet they have 3-4 backups, just in case. ;)

7. I remember reading about that incident.............. |
|
When Big Dog realized that the teleprompter wasn't working, he sent Future President Gore off to find someone to fix the machine.
President Clinton spoke from rote memory for over 9 minutes while the teleprompter was being put back online and neithwer Congress nor the American public even knew anything was wrong with the teleprompter til much later afterwards.

The character really seems to me to be based on Clark.
