so this is what it feels the night before christmas (Me am Jewish you see, so I get to see the excitement from afar)
So this is what it feels
Chenney and company about to find themselves on the wrong side of the law...
Cannot hold the excitement... shinny wrapping so should I leave some cookies and milk for this santa Claus (fitz)
Should I ask him for my particular wish list? Bush... the whole cabal....
Count your list, twice see who has been naughty and who has been nice...

4. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but |
|
Even if these guys are indicted, there is NO WAY in hell the congressional cronies of BushCo are going to Impeach anyone and Bush will blanket pardon everyone involved.
These guys are in extreme lockstep and no one is going to prison. Think of what the mafia/mob does to a jailbird... and that's why nothing will result of the investigation BUT indictments.

5. Reality checks are good and we should remember Cheney cannot |
|
be indicted, right? He can only be a non-indicted conspirator?

6. V.P. could be indicted (Nixon's V.P. was) |
|
The actual law is untested though... an indictment of the V.P. or Pres would likely go before the Supreme Court. I don't think we need to strain ourselves to figure out how that will turn out.
So most likely, he will go unindicted. But even if he is implicated as unindicted co-conspirator, congress would most likely NOT impeach.

7. Pretty sure we don't want a redo of the Nixon model. |
|
Impeachment is a political affair and I don't think pardons apply.
Article II Section 2. The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.
Seems obvious that resigning and getting a pardon, or pardoning co-conspirators, is forseen and forbidden.
I'm not sure that the House is out of the question in 2006. We should be prepared. He probably wouldn't resign anyway, more likely would have an unfortunate bicycling accident.

Congress Critters are going to suck up to their constituencies big-time. With Bush* approval ratings/credibility already in the toilet, Treason/Perjury/Obstruction of Justice indictments will take the remaining wheels off the public's wagon and the Congress Critters will be forced to respond to the Will of the People or put their reelection bid in jeopardy. With their own asses on the line, they'll abandon the loyalty-ship in droves.
In the alternative, the Dems will take over Congress and impeachment proceeding will be a sure thing.
Either way, Bush* won't finish his term.

8. That's what Limbaugh said today.... |
|
He said the Democrats were "giddy" but they are mistaken. The "conservatives" are not "fracturing", he said. The liberals are deceiving themselves. This is just like 1980 - just before the Revolution with Reagan....blah...blah...blah...

12. me excited too nadinbrzezinski but... |
|
if the buggers go down what will fill the power vacuum? Will booting this shower out change anything significantly, for example? Maybe for a little while.
Maybe it's the pessimist in me but consider that even though Nixon was finally caught, a little over thirty years has passed and the nasties are back in full control ...they have an uncanny ability to survive. Maybe it's something to do with our lack of knowledge on how to kill the undead...peurile smirk.
Ah, I am gonna be glued to the monitor for the next few days. I'll be cheering like I'm at at a big music gig.
cheers nadinbrzezinski

their own history... ask the kids what was watergate?
And people care about murican idol... what we need is truly a level of disinfectant never used in the US... it is called treason trials, with what this implies... (and overall I am against the death penalty, with ONE exception, HIGH TREASON) no it has no deterrent effect, but their antics has cost over a quarter of a million lives.

I cannot really understand the American mindset because I'm only an outside observer. One needs to think contextually in order to really understand anything and I ain't got a good enough handle on how those who don't visit DU think...apart from going to Freeperland but that's more like a visit to a wildlife park.
And I'm utterly opposed to state killing too...even for this rotten shower.

19. We we could always ship them off to the hague |
|
the max they can get over there is life
And let me tell you, though it would be great from the point of rehabilitating the nation in the eyes of the world, some 'round these parts will take up arms... for we weak backboned traitors surrendering to them socialist frenchy kissing, gay... europeans.
I wish I was making that attitude up, I am not... that wild life part is the one that will take up arms
For them... the desionfenctant of an open court with death penalty may work, it may also lead to some shooting, but I think the chances are less... and I am oppsed to it, no deterrent whatsoever, but they have cost so many lives... that is why I make one exception... and it is high treason.
