Heating Oil Prices Going Up
I know this is not new to anyone, but GMA is doing a story on it this morning. As someone who lives in the South, I feel for everyone in the NorthEast. I saw a statistic last night that it will cst you 50% more this year than last in the NE and 11% more for those of us in the South. My electric bill alone is going up $50 or more this month (per $100). I live in a 1 bedroom home and it may cost me $300 next month for electric. Unbelievable.

It all goes back to the dope in the White House. Why aren't there more people coming out against this idiot??

:argh:
:grr:

1. "Heating Oil Prices Going Up"
Heating oil should not be necessary in a country with so many viable energy alternatives available. We are considering a hydroponic wood boiler.

2. In Iowa there's a huge demand for
corn burning woodstoves. I don't think my landlord would be agreeable to a hole in the wall or roof. :(

6. I know a lot of people in Ohio buying wood stoves
I got a decorative wood stove (heats 1000+ sq. ft, installed 1st floor) but haven't had it installed yet. I'm still not sure how to heat the basement enough so the pipes don't freeze.

10. put it through a window
i have done this in plenty of rentals. open a double-hung window, cover it with tin. put your chimney through a hole you make in it. be sure your stove is 3' away from a wall, unless it is the newer type that can go right up against a wall.

3. Because the economy's in great shape and everyone got such big
raises in the last 5 years that a measly 50% increase in heating and gas doesn't make any difference.

Or people are just stunned into silence.

4. What's a raise?
My pension hasn't gone up in 10 years. My expenditures sure as hell have.

I seriously worry about heating this winter. I know people who literally cannot afford to buy heating oil or firewood and still buy food.

7. Heating Oil will help us win 2006
I know when you're paying through the nose, that doesn't help much, but this is the end result of 4 plus years of terrible leadership.

This heating oil gouge will be a lesson to Ohio and other states who lost their way.

9. And what is really maddening
Is that all throughout this long, cold expensive winter, Big Oil will be exporting tons and tons of heating oil, propane and natural gas overseas in order to create an artificial shortage here at home. Kinda like how they've refused to build anymore refineeries the past thirty years in order to continously jack up the gasoline prices.

This year I picked a 100mpg/55mph scooter to save on gas. I will be using this savings next summer to purchase an external woodstove to heat with. Wood is plentiful and cheap out here in the Midwest, and with a ten dollar gas investment for the chainsaw, and some time, I will be able to heat the entire house comfortably all winter. I would recommend that those of you who can do the same thing, for apparently this is only the beginning.

13. $2.88 per gallon as compared to last year's $1.45 per gallon
And they are still climbing. Not sure how we will manage as we live on a fixed income...
