If we want a woman Dem as President...
Starting with what has been done by each candidate since 2004, I would have to go with Pelosi.

2. Why should the gender of a candidate even be considered?
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 08:02 AM by bowens43
Isn't it more important to select the best qualified candidate regardless of gender or race ?

3. To me, I don't, but to many women (like my wife) it is VERY important

4. Because, if a female Dem wants the White House, she had better
be a strong leader, and one hell of a campaigner.

She will be in for a tough fight.

I'm sorry to say this, and its terrible to have to say, but its true, I'm afraid.

She will be running against Republican sleaze who will say that "a woman isn't strong enough to protect us from the terraists"

People who would either like to see a female president or don't care one way or the other are probably already voting Democratic anyway.

The people she will have to "reach out" to, will be the bigots and the sexists, who normally vote Republican.

5. Wow, someone LIKES Pelosi here?
Has hell frozen? I never thought I'd see the day!

I don't know about Pelosi for President, but I think she's been pretty good as Minority Leader. I'm looking forward to Speaker Pelosi, personally.

8. Just her running
..for President would have a major impact on setting the agenda (finally the Democrats would have one)Just as Howard Dean did in '04
but John Kerry just couldn't take the ball and run with it
