Google's "Don't do evil" credo

Just read on the BBC site that Google has officially created a charitable fund to help investment towards social works and also help socially progressive companies around the world. Linky here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4333942.stm

This is the first I heard of it and on the surface I'm glad that they are doing this. Also, I am heartened by the fact that they do have the phrase "Don't do evil" in their mission statement. I guess the trick is to see if this can be maintained over the long haul. In any case, kudos to Google for just doing it. When it works, I hope that it will be a standard that other companies will look up to.
