CNN: President moron note to Miers: No more public play with fecal matter
I kid you not. I don't know whether this is because shrub is vocabulary challenged, diction ignorant moron; or whether there was some ultra kinky play going on between him and SCOTUS nominee Miers; or they just talked dirty to each other. But this is what CNN reports of one of his notes:

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/11/miers.ap/index.html

<quote:>

Bush wrote back to wish Miers a happy 52nd birthday, telling her that he appreciated her friendship and to "never hold back your sage advice." He ended with a postscript: "No more public scatology."

<unquote>

Just in case you need a vocab refresher:

23. I think that's exactly what he was saying- referring to himself. She
probably needled him for some off color remarks he made.

I've read Bush is reknowned for telling off color jokes etc.

And he wasn't ALWAYS as totally stupid as he is now.

13. It's impossible to know, but...
could he have misremembered this term, and tried to spell it as he phonetically remembered it:

eschatology:

es·cha·tol·o·gy ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sk-tl-j)
n. The branch of theology that is concerned with the end of the world or of humankind.
A belief or a doctrine concerning the ultimate or final things, such as death, the destiny of humanity, the Second Coming, or the Last Judgment.

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=eschatology

It's a lot more germane to the general goings-on (e.g., dobson, et al).

30. Don't be so sure. Bush hangs with Timothy LaHaye now
LaHaye is one of the top-shelf endtimers.

If this note was really from a long time ago, when Bush was an Episcopalian, then it's very possible he told her to mellow out on the eschatology. But if it's recent? The boy's trying to bring about the Rapture.

33. Possible .. but I doubt it
mainly because shrub doesn't really have that theological background. In other words, "eschatology" is a word that scholars of religion use. People who actually believe that stuff tend to say things like "end times."

Also, I think there is a slightly pejorative connotation to the word. Suggesting he meant, let's not talk about "eschatology" is like someone saying, "let's not talk about our weird cult."

If that's the meaning of the note, I think he would have said something like, no more talk about revelation or no more talk about end times or no more talk about rapture.

The rapture ready crowd do not talk about eschatology.

All kidding aside, I think he was talking about dirty words. Shrub is famous for having a foul mouth, and I imagine that for a tough as nails female corporate lawyer to rise to the top of her profession in macho Texas, she would have adopted a lot of tough-talk profanity to fit in with the boys.

He's probably saying no more cursing in public.

is this the kind of person you want approving White House press passes for male prostitutes like Bush sycophant Jeff Gannon?

I think not.

Miers cannot be trusted with this crucial FUNCTION.

AMERICA needS someone Totally Qualified (TQ) to approve the Male Prostitutes who are welcomed to the Bush-Republican White House.

Citizens must demand that BushCo be more forthcumming.

32. Both explanations are utterly plausible.
Since it was 8 years ago, I doubt ** was thinking of putting her on SCOTUS at the time, since he probably didn't think anyone would let him become President either.

The first one would require ** to have used a multisyllabic word correctly, which simply doesn't happen that often. Harriet's a big tough Texan, she can probably cuss like a sailor driving a truck at a construction site, and maybe she did so in political meetings with people who didn't appreciate it. Then, ** tells her to lay off and act more ladylike and professional.

However, I can't see him phrasing it like that. He'd just say "Stop swearing in front of the Christian lobbyists" or something more direct. Also, we know he has a pretty blue tongue of his own and probably wouldn't care if his staffers did also.

The second one fits in with the whole fundie orientation of Bushco, and would be spelled incorrectly, which is something ** would do. The official Repug philosophy is that "anyone who believes in the Judeo-Christian God must be made to agree with us". Arguments about the gory details of theology are generally avoided in order to keep conservative Catholics, mainline Protestants, Mormons, Pentecostals, Baptists, Moonies, etc. all under the big homophobic tent. Harriet was probably vocal about some controversial eschatological topic (of which there are a lot since no two denominations agree on everything) and ** was afraid that this would harm his coalition-building efforts.

Once again, though, would he say it like that? It's a fact that he barely even knows what books of the Bible go where, much less any sort of deep theology. But this one has a better explanation:

"Uh, Bushie?"

"Yes, Bushie."

"What's that word for when people discuss the end of the world? I'm writing a note to Harriet Miers to tell her to stop doing it and I want to sound smart."

"Eschatology, dear. Where's the tequila? I told you to save me the last of that bottle, you fucking pig!"

While dodging flying furniture, ** forgot to ask Laura how to spell it.
