Plamegate/Treasongate Addicts what have I missed in the last

1. The media are camping outside the court
just like they did in the 'old days' Watergate, Iran-contra.

7. And then David Corn's recent observation that Rove's own words...
... almost insure an indictment, and prove he's guilty of insubordination (and that Bush's words have been hollow).

10. Can you help me out with this one? What is the gist of it? From
first glance it seems to suggest that they are peddling this * would never do that so Rove defied him crap? Are they?

16. I think the last paragraph sums it up rather nicely.

It's an "either this happened, or that happened... only possible explanations" type of thing.

Rove has been shown to shift his stories, and to have released classified info. His own words indict him.

Either the president knew this or he didn't (there's really little way to prove this, so Corn is just taking logical steps to guess what happened). If Bush didn't know, he should now and Rove should have already been fired (thus, he's not a man of his word). If Bush did know, then he's part of the leak (or the coverup, obstruction, etc.)... and likely subject to indiuctment himself.

I have a hard time believing Fitzgerald could get proof of the latter, though.

EDIT:
I don't think that David Corn thinks "Bush would never have done this". He's a vehement Bush critic. I think he doesn't know how you can PROVE Bush knew anything, though. But he believes Rove's and Bush's words, taken together, prove that Rove committed a crime, and that Bush doesn't care.

4. Well Judith has testified and left the courthouse all in smiles.
See Stephanies thread for that.

CNN- supposedly commented that Judy testified about another source, other that Libby.

People have been guessing when and how many indictments are coming there is a thread on that on the first page.

No news is still news around here. I am waiting for the end of the day when all the leaks from the lawyers hit.

9. Oh yeah...
and sporadic posts about how there are not going to be any indictments. Can't believe anyone could say that at this point but hey, to each his own.

6. Honestly, not much new news.
The idea that Fitzgerald is looking at conspiracy charges that might involve members of the WHIG got recycled last night to great fanfare, but that was not new.

Miller testified today for an hour. There is some speculation that she had a second source in addition to Scooter, that is not confirmed.

Huffington Post said that WSJ and Bloomberg were about to run stories stating that Cheney might be a target of the investigation, that did not happen as far as I am aware. WSJ ran a story but did not single out Cheney as a possible target.

17. I saw that, and then saw that HuffPo toned down their later headlines.
They realized maybe they jumped the gun?

The WSJ story doesn't directly mention Cheney as a target (though it does expand the focus to the WHIG). As to the Bloomberg story, I guess we're still waiting on that one?

It could still expand to Cheney. The WHIG was his baby, and Libby is, after all, his Chief of Staff.

11. Like a broken record ....
I continue to suggest that people watch Matthews on Hardball ... he has to contend with not only his attorneys' advice, but also those of MSNBC, in determining how far he can go. But he is also a competitive reporter with the other corporate talking heads. While not at the level of what we might wish for, he does want to break this wide open. C'mon Chris!
