U.S. Army records worst recruiting year since 1979
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-army12.html

WASHINGTON -- Alone among the military services, the Army fell short of its 2005 recruiting goals -- not just the active-duty Army but also the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

The Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, which have far smaller recruiting needs than the Army, all met their targets, according to end-of-year figures released by the Pentagon on Tuesday evening.

The military uses an Oct. 1-Sept. 30 counting period to coincide with the federal budget year. snip

The Army National Guard fared the worst in 2005. It signed up 50,219 for the year, which is only 80 percent of its goal.

2. Two ways to deal with this from Chimp's POV.
1. Destroy the job marked further so that military is the only option.

2. Draft.

Since he has a lot of room to push plan #1 still, I think a draft is still about a year off.

I'm surprised no one in the "liberal" media took a look at the original 2005 fiscal year goals and the final goals they set in June, after the end of the 3rd quarter fiscal year.

4. The Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps also failed to meet their goals
Go back to the 2005 fiscal year budget and look at the goal they originally set.

They all lowered their goals in June.
