Christian Wire: "American Girl" dolls linked to abortion & lesbianism!
:eyes:

===

Contact: Ann Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League, 773-777-2900, 312-965-1030 cell, ann@prolifeaction.org

CHICAGO, Oct. 12 /Christian Wire Service/-- The Pro-Life Action League is warning parents of ties between the popular American Girl doll company and Girls Inc., a group that promotes abortion, lesbianism and easy access to birth control for teens.

In August, the American Girl company, a subsidiary of Mattel Toys, Inc., launched the "I Can" campaign, which involves taking a pledge and purchasing a special bracelet. Seventy cents of each one-dollar bracelet sold will be donated to Girls Inc. American Girl is also donating an additional $50,000 to Girls Inc.

"Parents need to know that this effort to promote self-esteem among girls is not as innocent as it seems," commented League Executive Director Ann Scheidler. "While Girls Inc. has some good programs, they also support abortion, oppose abstinence-only education for girls, and condone lesbianism."

Scheidler points to the Girls Inc. web site, which declares that "girls need and have a right to . . . convenient access to safe, effective methods of contraception," and that "Girls Incorporated supports a woman's freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade" (Source: http://www.girlsinc.com/ic/page.php?id=4.3.4)

"Parents associate American Girl dolls with wholesome American family values, yet Girls Inc. contradicts parents' most basic moral beliefs," Scheidler said. "We're encouraging parents, grandparents and other family members to write and call American Girl President Ellen L.
Brothers to object to the company's support for Girls Inc."

Scheidler hopes American Girl will sever ties with Girls Inc. before the League calls for a boycott of American Girl products and launches a picketing campaign at the American Girl Place retail stores in Chicago and New York. :scared:

It was actually discouraging. I remember hoping to tell my friends I had one like that. :smoke: We all wanted albums with dirty words that could be heard when played backwards.

I'm not sure they will wake up. From just a preliminary search, it looks like the support for Girls Inc started about the same time as some partnership they made with Clear Channel.

Clear Channel has been involved with a number of lefty scam systems. Especially commercial money laundering with advertising. So I think they got into bed with snakes.

These companies think there is more money in supporting abortionists, perverts and atheists than Chrisitians. It is good to boycott this crap because that is the only message they know and it how the libs have taken over most of these companies today. The diversity mantra is a lib/communist program used to divide us and keep us suspicious about each other and generate hate.

13. This is disgraceful. My beautiful, little six year old daughter has
two American Girl dolls and we love them! She marks the catalogue of all these adorable things, as soon as it arrives and it's a lovely experience for her. I won't let these losers spoil this for her.

My only issue with American Girls is that the dolls are a tad pricey ($98.00 a pop), but then they really are a quality product. The accessories are beautiful and high quality as well.

46. How about these?
Some samples from a quick google search:

The "Life of Faith" Dolls and Books, apparently about a frontier-era girl as she grows up, gets married, and lives a "Good Creeestian" life. Looks like a rip-off of Laura Ingalls Wilder books and cheap knock-offs of Madame Alexander dolls:
http://www.ebenezers.net/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F9567893&rnd=6894655&rrc=N&affl=&cip=&act=&aff=&pg=cat&ref=lifeoffaith">Life of Faith at Ebenezer's Christmas Store

Then there's "Little Marcy," the 1960s Christian puppet act that apparently spawned a bunch of bad albums:
http://www.sharpeworld.com/marcy/pages/article.html">Little Marcy

And this article, by Andrew Freeman of the Daily Collegian:
http://www.dailycollegian.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/04/27/426ee6cf9d927">Article link

"Church Changes U.S. Society"

<snip>

If you want to know what Christianity in America is really about, you needn't go to church. A simple two-word phrase will do it for you: "Jesus Dolls."

Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co. has created a series of dolls called "Messengers of Faith," which include Jesus, Mary, Moses and David. The foot-high dolls are "fully posable," recite verses from the Bible and are "great for collectors, to," according to the company's Web site, www.one2believe.com.

Jesus dolls are just one element in a fascinating trend in today's society: the merger of Christianity and consumer capitalism...Increasingly, Christianity in the United States has become commoditized, and its adherents have become an emerging market for products. This is leading to a coarsening of religion. People trumpet their religious identity in the same way they announce their child is an honor student: on a T-shirt or bumper sticker.

<snip>

Moreover, some of these products promote a very violent and hateful version of Christianity.

Great commentary, BTW, succinct overview of commercialism in Christianity, from Weber to Premillenialist thought, to Repugs' co-opting of the ideas.

But poseable, Bible-reciting dolls? Makes me LOL, thinking of a "WWJD" Fundie-Jeezus doll, complete with Chucky-like butcher knife and evil leer...

:rofl: :evilgrin: :rofl:

30. A Feminist Friend Of Mine LIKES American Girl Dolls
An old feminist friend of mine likes American Girl dolls. The reason she likes them is because these dolls not only portray women of a younger age but also, unlike the better-known Mattel doll, they don't encourage the unhealthy stick-thin dimensions that both the media and the fashion industry has been so taken with for the last fifty years.

As for the Scheidlers, they're among the most extreme of the anti-reproductive rights right-wing reactionaries.

I like that too about the dolls. They're more real then a Barbie. If I have female children someday I'd rather them play with American Girl dolls instead of Barbie. Check this out. American Girls is a very positive thing.

These people are out of their minds! I can only hope that small minded bigots like those will eventually creep-out most true Christians, and they'll find themselves moving to an island waiting for the end times. They are spiteful, supersticious, and hateful, trolls. I want no part of a religion like that.. everybody making up their own rules daily. It's like playing kickball with those annoying kids from down the block, you know, the ones that make the rules up to suit them.

American Girl dolls are considered very wholesome and good for girls... sheesh.
