FITZ MAY EXTEND THE GJ (via Reuters)
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 07:43 PM by Beetwasher
Hold onto your seats folks, I know this sucks because of the wait, but this is actually a GOOD thing.

N.Y. Times reporter testifies again in CIA case

--snip--

"Two lawyers said Fitzgerald may be seeking to extend the investigation beyond the grand jury's scheduled Oct. 28 expiration because of the new information."

--snip--

And just to pat myself on the back, I predicted this:

Because a state funeral for the target of an investigation could be George's salvation and the Republicans' best chance in November.

15. That would seal it RE: indictments
No way this guy would waste the People's time with more grand jury and NO indictments. It means, quite obviously, that Judy's testimony cracked open the heart of this worm-filled beast, and it's gonna take some additional digging to get EVERYBODY. But it's a lock on those-who-already-got-got. Bank it.

20. Take your time, Fitz. This is the gift that keeps on giving. All the
uproar in the last couple of weeks has been great. This thing has occupied about 5 news cycles, in ever-increasing magnitude, and it's great to see.

This gives me more time to work on my menu for the big party:

-Yellow Cake
-Fried Chickenhawk
-Crow Pie
-Near Beer

The closer the indictments are to the 2006 election, the better.

However, I predict that Cheney will retire due to health reasons prior to the indictments.

I'm afraid this freakin' regime will do so much more harm.

I just beg, please, Fitz, make your move before they create further havoc in the M.E., incite further hatred towards our country and invoke a world war.

Extend the GJ,...but, please, get the ones you can, NOW.

This isn't merely a matter of patience,...it's about the life or death of this great nation,...and these bastards are perfectly willing to risk our security.

23. Looks like Miller is right in the middle of conspiracy:
snip>

Libby's June 23, 2003, conversation with Miller could bolster a conspiracy or perjury case because the conversation was not initially disclosed and suggests a preemptive effort was made to discredit Wilson, lawyers said.

According to a National Journal report, in two appearances before the federal grand jury, Libby did not disclose the June 23 conversation with Miller. Nor did Libby disclose the conversation when he was twice interviewed by FBI agents.

snip>

As far as we know, Miller didn't disclose this either. Or am I missing something.

26. Perfect! Nothing like a holiday season of scandals!
I'd love to think the first round of indictments will come the Monday before Thanksgiving. It will make good family conversation about our treasonous president and his treasonous staff. Hopefully, the Abramoff investigation will conclude right before Christmas, then, too!

Nothing like family get togethers to massage in the news of our government's corruption into freeper family members' heads. It's a sight I will be heartily waiting for!

30. I have a feeling Abramoff is going to go on a _lot_ longer.
It's even more complicated than the treason case. Abramoff is tied to every major Republican politician, as well as to the Mafia. His case is going to make Rove's treason look like small by comparison. If Abramoff is followed to its roots, we will find that it is connected to traitorgate, Halliburton, and all sorts of other stuff. It's going to get ugly, but be patient on that one.

42. You said it. That's exactly my concern.
Steps need to be taken NOW to reduce the risk of something being staged (probably Terra) to disrupt the investigation.

I'm particularly concerned about records being stolen or destroyed. Also, of course, about Fitzgerald's personal safety.

32. I don't know if I believe this or not.
I heard the comment from Judy's lawyer tonight on CNN that Fits told her she was now free from obstruction of justice charges, and he thanked her for her testimony.

Now, I realize that info was from HER atty. Rove is to testify on Friday.

That leaves 2 full weeks for Fitz to wrap up this case. I'm just not convinced that he has reason to extend the GJ.

I trust this prosecutor, and I don't want him to rush things if it would jeopardies his case. I also don't think Fitz would do that!

It's just that all the MSM is frustrated that Fitz isn't leaking and they have to be able to say something!

The aspens are turning, indeed!!!!!!!

Who will be hauled in to do political work when Libby and Rove are frogmarched? Ed "no chin" Gillespie?? Marc "The Ferret" Racicot???

Or will he have to bring in Poppy's ole pal, James Baker??

He needs a political guy or three, and the ones in there now seem to be up to their necks in hot water. Uh oh!

Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 08:32 AM by Beetwasher
If the scope of the investigation has widened considerably and evidence of new crimes has emerged, then Fitz may have no choice but to extend.

If what her lawyer said was true, and there's no obstruction charge, it may be because she provided testimony of additional crimes and ratted out other people. As a matter of fact, the more I think about it, the more I think that's probably what happened, because she was almost certainly staring down the barrel of being charged w/ obstruction, and of course, the only way out of that is to sing.

What if she testified, just as an example, that she was privvy to plans to plant WMD's? Or had information about the "suicide" of David Kelly? Etc. If the investigation took a turn like that, Fitz would have to extend and investigate those allegations.

43. If Miller is now free from obstruction of justice charges that means
Fitzgerald got from her what he was after and that means, imo, she spilled the beans in order not to be charged with new obstruction of justice and perjury charges.

The fact that she has been freed from the initial obstruction of justice charges should make the bowels of the bush cabal contract mightily.
