Let us let New Orleans sink into the Gulf of Mexico
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 08:06 PM by BOSSHOG
The city is unsaveable and below sea low, so

- Fuck the commerce this country gets from the Gulf at New Orleans
- Fuck the number one outlet to and from the Mississippi River
- Fuck the people who make the movers and shakers comfortable and able to do their jobs.

And the next time an earthquake shakes San Francisco, lets all fuck San Francisco; and whichever city is next hit by a terrorist attack, fuck that city, and the next time a town gets wiped out by a tornado in Oklahoma, fuck em.

2. BOSS, are you aware of the 3rd Delta Conveyance plan?
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 08:14 PM by gulfcoastliberal
Because unless it is implemented, New Orleans WILL sink into the gulf. Not sure if you're aware an area equivalent to 1.5 Manhattans of Louisiana coastland is sinking into the Gulf each year. This is because the levees penning in the Mississippi send all the silt that BUILT Louisiana out into the Gulf rather than spreading out as alluvial deposits. New Orleans can be saved, but only if they spend the 15 billion to implement the plan to slow, then stop, then reverse the loss of sinking coastal land. If they don't do it, it's a fact that New Orleans will go under the waves of the gulf. Either restore the coast or New Orleans is doomed. It's a fact.

Edit: If 10 square miles of California coast sunk into the Pacific each year, they would do something about it. Sadly, no one or not enough people in Louisiana have demanded action on this. Californians would go ape shit if this happened.

6. NOT DEMANDED ACTION?
Gulf Coast Residents have been begging for, oh, about 30+ years now. Restore the wetlands, slow and impede hurricanes. 30+ years those in the know say the big one is coming, what are we gonna do about it? Too late now. But I think the continued rebuilding of Iraq really eases the pain in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

13. Where is Landriu on this? Has Blanco demanded this be implemented?
Seems like the Katrina disaster would light a fire under their asses to get this done. Please, if you have any references to the politicians demanding this plan be funded, point me to them. All I know is Blanco went and hired Kenyon/SCI, a Bush crony firm with a criminal history of corpse dumping to do cadaver recovery. I have not heard ANYTHING from them regarding demanding some of their relief money being earmarked for this project. I read Bayou Farewell about this problem. Tidwell (author) said that the politicians are more concerned about incentives for the oil/gas industries than spending money to restore the coast - and its multibillion dollar seafood industry, invaluable aviaries, shrimp grounds, etc.

Check out this interview with the author:

4. Bus$h & cronies will fuck any city or community if they smell profit.
Goddamn them all to hell.

Would they say "Don't rebuild NYC or Miami or Jacksonville" after a hurricane? Or LA or SF or San Diego after an earthquake?

Fuck 'em. I say we stage a nationwide Democratic/Progressive strike and get their attention. How would OUR NATION function without our hard work?

I'm just sayin'...

:grr:

PS: Hi BOSSHOG :hi:

8. You rock my world Cottonbear
Don't mess with the Big Easy. Don't let morons like LOUISIANA Senator David Vitter (R) say, okay give us loans that we have to pay back although in similar circumstances that has never been done before. And I, David Vitter will cross swords with Mary Landrieu over the issue, because, I, David Vitter am a republican.

We have a cosmic Roux cooking Cottonbear which hopefully will eviscerate the republican party:

harriett, tom, bill, iraq and the THE CITY THAT CARE FORGOT!

Love ya Dear, thanks for your support.

We will party in the Big Easy very soon!

12. Thanks! You rock my world & DU BOSSHOG! DU Mardi Gras Party is on!
A cosmic Roux is exactly what is brewing. Evisceration of Republicans is tops on my menu.

Funny, isn't it, how Senator Vitter has been non-existent in the MSM sincethe first few days of Katrina? I've not heard hide nor hair of him since then.

Love ya back. Mr CB and I send our best wishes to you and yours in MS. :hi:

We'll let you know when we head south to Slidell and Lacombe.

Viva NOLA!

Peace. CB

7. Let's rebuild New Orleans better than it ever was.
Make it a viable city for every walk of life! I actually was priviledged to visit NO once, and I had a great time! It's an important city, both financially and spiritually.

16. And fuck one of the key sources of American culture!
The French say there are only two authentic American art forms: the Western movie -- and jazz.

So fuck it! We'll just go with the Western movie!! :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:
