A "nonpolitical" friend of mine used the "R" word today...
"R" for revolution.

She had been talking about how difficult it had been to get an accounting error corrected with the electric company because the bookkeeping and customer service offices had all been outsourced to India. They were saying she had underpaid her account and were threatening to cut off her electricity here in south texas.

She mentioned a few other things, like how workers used to be able to support families on one salary and have a pension and health insurance, and now these companies are stealing pension plans when they declare bankruptcy.

My friend has a graduate degree, is over 50 years old, unmarried, and works in the education field, and she is talking like everyone is going to get fed up really soon and revolt!

1. I am from South Texas and a lot of my conservative friends
are starting to curse the Big oil companies. I still don't think they can bring themselves to link the republicans and oil company greed. Somehow, I'm sure it is still Clinton's fault.

2. I wonder if they are aware that ExonMobile's previous quarter
profits were over 8 billion, the largest in U.S. corporate history.
Does it strike anyone as odd that (1) the oil companies are taking in record profits, (2) the price of crude has more than doubled in about a year while the supply has remained constant and (3) the oil companies, in spite of huge tax breaks in the new tax bill are whining for the gvt. to pay for the new refineries and (4) gasoline cost 12 cents a gallon in Venezuela.

3. EVERY QUARTER for exxon is a record quarter. We are being fleeced.
The texas, white-boy, petroleum mafia is getting their money's worth out of the pResident they had selected. Criminal doesn't even begin to cover it.

4. If we had a reasonably honest President, and Congress, which
we don't, I would suggest that the oil companies be Nationalized. As it now is, the oil companies are basically running the country in order to steal trillions of dollars from the American people. Our economy can't hold out very much longer. Frankly, I think we need an American President who represents the people such as Chavez in Venezuela.

Huey P. Long, although somewhat shady in his political practices, was a man that was trying to look out for the middle and lower income people of Louisiana. It is widely thought that the oil companies were behind his assassination. Also, FDR was keen to get rid of him because he was a threat in the upcoming Presidential election. (Although I've heard no credible evidence to indicate that FDR was involved in the assassination.)

I'm not a communist or a socialist. But, certain aspects of governmental protection of the non-rich which may be defined as socialistic are necessary. In America the rich are getting richer and more powerful. We are only a small way from becoming a total fascist state. Bad news!
