Run out the clock? This is my fear.

1. I have the feeling we'll still win quite a few seats in the house and
senate. I also think it'll be GREAT for the dems in 08. But it would suck since impeachment wouldn't be likely

6. IF Democrats were to regain control of both House & Senate -
the Pugs could not stop Congressional investigations of Plamegate, the Iraq War, Bush cronyism, Darth Cheney's unscrupulous doings, Bolton's shenanigans, Abu Graib(sp), Frist's finances, Bill Bennett's behavior, Rush's drugs & lies, the Jeff Gannon affair(s), DeLay's arch-corruption, Wellstone's death, Sensenbrenner's nonSense, FEMA's ineptness, the Halliburton empire, the tax status of Dobson, Robertson, & Falwell, election fraud, "DontAskDontTell," even Fox News media bias.
Democrats Unite! Vote out the goons & Pug Thugs in '06. Get this country back on the right track.

8. if the investigation is extended
then based on the way things are looking now, I'm guessing we'll only gain seats in the house and win the Senate. We'll still be able to continue Plamegate investigations, but no in the house..

2. I don't think that's the goal.
He just wants to nail a few more traitors. Patience, grasshopper. The reward shall be great and just. :hippie:

3. The grand jury's term expires in a couple of weeks.
They would have to convene another GJ, and I can't imagine why Fitzgerald would have any reason to "run out the clock."

10. He's a Republican?
Not saying he won't do whats right...just might make the blow sting less by being a little super extra thorough.

11. From what I've heard, he's a registered independent.
And he is reputed to be resolutely nonpartisan. My impression is that he cares very much about prosecuting criminals and nothing at all about politics.

5. Depressing thought but very unlikely. Keep in mind that much

of the last 18 months was spent waiting while the Cooper/Miller case was taken to and then decided by the Court of Appeals and then appealed to the Supreme Court. Fitzgerald told the District Court months ago that the scope of his investigation had expanded beyond the identity of the leakers and that he needed Cooper's and Miller's testimony to finish the investigation.

7. If There Are Indictments It Will
This will definitely be the case should there be several indictments as Fitzgerald will want to deal with them one at a time.

Then there's the pre-trial fun to be had, followed by jury selection and other fun and games. We could see trials for several years...and depending on the scope of the people and the timing, this scandal could cause headaches for the Repugnicans next year and into 2008.

9. He can do indictments any time and continue beyond 2006
That's what could happen: major indictments soon plus ongoing trials with an investigation piece in place for more indictments as he goes along.

Lets see what he does. He's waited a long time to nail this down. I remember the statement that the leak portion of the investigation was done some time ago. He's obviously doing more than that. Be of good cheer.
