I got my gas bill today and as of next month my budgeted rate will go up from $83 to $120 a month. I don't even have my heat on yet!! As a comparison, my budgeted amount last winter was $96.

4. Yikes! I "gambled" some by locking in my rate for a year at $8.39 per |
|
dekatherm just the other day...that's about 30% over what the last bill was but the predictions are that it'll go up to about 70%. I'm in Oklahoma which ain't as cold as Illinois usually (I was born in Centralia) but we can get some brutal winters from time to time.

Isn't it always?
Seriously though it's a looming national crisis and all we'll hear is that "no one could have forseen" that people wouldn't have enough money to heat their homes. Or that it's their fault for not planning on the crisis and putting away extra money. When will people wake up and realize that this government doesn't care about average people.

Good thing we're getting new double-paned windows installed next month.
Expensive, but hopefully worth it, in the long run...
