the Detroit Editorial today''s Rhodes program
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 11:49 PM by nadinbrzezinski
they both had a common theme:

... Great Depresion... yes Randi even asked... we are talking of a great depression here folks... and the editorial asked, how long until we have a nice ever so lovely revolt.

Ok folks most people are going to miss what I mean by this... political micro-climate. Every country where the citizens are afraid of their government develop a certain language where they start discussing the realities without discussing the realities. What we have seen over the last week or so, is a fundamental change in that micro climate folks. I can safely say... from the talk... we are closer to the We've had it moment than the powers than be would ever care to admit...

I just say... fasten your seat belts, this ride is gonna get bumpy.

1. it is interesting that we seem to have reached a tipping point--things are
so glaringly obvious that only the most obtuse, willfully blind sheeples are refusing to see it. and those who bought the bushista line are probably going to be even angrier, realizing that they let themselves be "had".

3. Brian Dickerson mentioned torches and pitchforks in his Monday column
We're watching the airlines.

But Delphi opened the floodgates. GM has a lot of liability in those Delphi employees, about $12 BILLION. GM's financial security is anything but. Ford is nervously watching.

All of the major corporations with pension liabilities have spent big bucks studying the UAL rulings.

This is gonna get a lot worse.

Reaping the whirlwind

I think we in Michigan are about to find out exactly how angry workers can get.

I hope I'm wrong about this. I hope that one or two years from now, when the profound changes engulfing Michigan's economy have had a little more time to play out and God knows what new natural disaster or international plague has come along to distract us, the premonitions I have today will seem histrionic and short-sighted.

But I believe we are very near the point where the frustration of the working poor and newly unemployed may erupt in acts of violence the likes of which haven't been seen in this country since the earliest days of the labor movement.

And the way things are going, it's only a matter of time before top executives at Michigan's largest public companies are unable to walk through their factories or walk their dogs beyond the perimeters policed by their invisible security fences without protection.

4. I know that is why between that editorial and
today's program the microclimate has changed, radically

What some of us have said before was coming, is now pretty much open talk. When you have this on a national syndicaeted show and the column, something chagned... I know what changed, yuo know what chagned, but we are at that point

8. Radically is right
The Detroit automakers and their suppliers have facilities in every state. The ripples will form accordingly.

6. Oh yes
Wasn't there a strike earlier this year in California with plants and the airlines? I think this time it'll be worse than that.

7. Well many of us have been discussing how long?
and waht form it will take, here at DU... I think we have reached the point when we will not have to discuss this for much longer in the realm of theory, that is.

I expect Fitz to indict...

I expect labor to take to the streets

I expect things to get really hot quite soon now.. been predicting this for a while... and I wish I was not right... but the climate has changed... radically changed... I fear people have reached the point of... what do we have to loose?

9. I understand what you are saying.
And I agree. And, of course, the same exists amongst thos who would desperately cling to power.

Understand that a sudeden change can occur from both sides.

Waves of energy, one from us, one against us. Or, many.

Change happens suddenly, vigorously and UNPREDICTABLY. When our energy is released, expect it to be met. See my screen name.

Remember, courage. The energy must be carried by We, The People if it is to be delivered to the point of effectivity.

11. Oh I expect a dramatic reaction
I do...

The tree of liberty, if it is to survive, will have to be watered with the blood of patriots... it is in many ways time.
