if I had not seen it. That footage makes the chimp look absolutely "brilliant"! Please tell me it really is a joke. Aside from the jingoistic worries, a rudimentary grasp of geography, should have shown these people that this was a joke!

3. When I taught 4th grade in Illinois

my students knew what Austraila was! Sheesh! I can't believe there are people who look like they are reasonably intelligent who don't know the basics of geogr--wait a minute. I remember when I was teaching in Texas and taking a seminar on the geography of the Middle East. The instructor asked us to write down the name of a country that began with "O". I was one of the few who wrote down "Oman". Most wrote down "Oklahoma"-and not as a joke. And these were teachers!

I was working as a temp in a medical office on September 11, 2001. There was a young guy working there (maybe 20-ish) and once it became clear to my coworkers that this was terrorism (one woman thought it was 'the radar sucking the planes into the WTC' :eyes: ) he was really pissed and said we should invade. I asked him who we should invade and he said Israel. I said - Do you know who and what Israel is? and he said no but they are all the same. I warned him to keep his mouth shut about that one since 7 of the 9 doctors in the practice were Jewish...
