Miers Nomination Unconstitutional?
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 06:02 AM by ck4829
Remember ** saying "Miers' religion is important to her"?

Remember ** Administration officials meeting with 'christian' Right leaders?

YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!!!!1111!!!!!1 :D

Article VI, Section 3 of the US Constitution states that:

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

If Bush is seeking approval from 'christian' Right leaders on Judicial Nominees, then he is doing something that is unconstitutional.

2. Unless she complains
it's perfectly valid. No case or controversy otherwise.

4. Interesting, but Bush's criteria for a SC nominee is cronyhood
not religion. Mier's religion is simply a convenient marker to get the nominee past his base.

5. Interesting that the Catholic Church seems to be so silent.

Must be a real dilemma for them that she's a former Catholic, which the church refers to as "apostate."

Apparently she's not too soiled to crawl into bed with the other anti-abortionists.
