CNN on Bush's Video Conference Photo-OP with Troops >>>
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 10:08 AM by Stephanie

Wow, a whole new brand of Photo-OP! Teleconference Photo-OP!

Interesting comments about freedom, seeing as how Iraqis are going to be locked in their houses overnight under the new curfew.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush sought to rally U.S. troops in Iraq ahead of Saturday's vote on a new constitution on Thursday, saying the "enemy understands that a free Iraq would be a blow to their vision."

"We put in motion something that can't be stopped, and that is the march of freedom," Bush said in a video conference with soldiers from the Army's 42nd Infantry Division, based in Tikrit, ancestral homeland of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

"We're never going to back down, we're never going to give in, we'll never accept anything less than total victory," Bush said.

"Thank you for all your work. When you back to the United States, if I'm hanging around, come by and say hello."

U.S., Iraqis Prepare to Enforce Curfew

BAGHDAD, Iraq Oct 13, 2005 — U.S. and Iraqi forces stepped up security across the country Thursday and prepared to impose an overnight curfew to try to reduce insurgent attacks aimed at wrecking this weekend's constitutional referendum.

***

The government ordered a 10 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew to begin Thursday, and Iraq's borders will be closed Friday and all travel among its provinces stopped.

1. I listened to part of it on Malloy and he said the soldiers watching were
not moving, and he also believes that Bush was drunk. I am waiting for a video of this to be posted on the Net so I can watch it myself.

9. Michael Moore's response to Bush's 2004 Thanksgiving troop photo op:
...this was captured from Michael Moore's front page last Thanksgiving. Bush made a couple of quick "We appreciate your efforts" salls to troops and then got down to the SERIOUS bizness of eatin' turkey (and YES, the mainstream media reported on WHAT HE ATE last year).

Rather than just save the photo, I wanted to capture the "moment," because this is what it's all about: Bush, safe at Camp David, safe in Crawford, safe with his widdle mommy in Kennebunkport, safe at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Bush, safe, as we rapidly approach 2000 dead American soldiers and God-knows-how-many physically and MENTALLY scarred for LIFE.

Safe.

Does this mean that they're close to mutiny?

15. And just out of curiosity, who are these 11 soldiers and why is
the Emperor speaking with them? I mean, did they win a contest or did they draw straws or were they the only ones "hangin' around" at the time? Just curious...
