The world, including really poor countries, collected money for the victims of Katrina, while the pitiful giant that can’t (i.e., won’t) take care of its own people, gives a sum for Pakistani relief equal to what Afghanistan gives to the US for Katrina victims! But we must consider the great expense the pitiful giant is incurring in weapons to help the rest of the world! The U.S. just announced they're donating $100,000 to earthquake victims (almost 20,000 dead so far) in Pakistan -- that's the same amount of aid AFGHANISTAN sent to the U.S. after Katrina....
America’s friends abroad, and even some of its foes, have responded to the horrific destruction to the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina by pledging money and sending supplies to assist the recovery effort. Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates lead the pack, offering $100 million each. A touching $25,000 was pledged by tsunami-ravaged Sri Lanka. And Iran offered 20 million barrels of oilif the United States lifts its sanctions. FP offers a complete breakdown of the kind (and sometimes surprising) generosity of more than 50 countries around the world.
