In addition, by almost THREE to ONE (69% to 25%), people want "Different Policies and Programs" from the Bush administration!

It's more of the same...which comes down to more death and destruction on a massive scale.

10. Independents are closer to the Dems than the Repubs
That's a good sign. I wouldn't put my word behind it, but I think moderates in the middle are leaning in the same direction.

11. Unless we tie it to the Repukes, nothing will change in 2006
Dems have to show how this relates to the mid-term election GOPers or we'll get more calamity in 2006 and beyond.

15. Considering people want a Democratic-controlled Congress
over a Republican one by a margin of nine points (the largest ever in the history of the poll), I think people are beginning to connect the dots.

There's still a very long way to go, of course, but I'd say our position is very good for the moment.

16. yup. We just can't be the "anti-Bush" party or we'll end up with more
crap from these criminals. I think the Tom DeLay thing is really onto something...so many of them took his cash and now don't want to give it back. Two Repukes here in WI have already publicly said they won't return the money (one said he might if DeLay is convicted--but he's running for Guv and needs the $30K).

32. except all politics are local
People may prefer a Democratic controlled Congress, but if their local representative or Senator brings home the bacon and hasn't been caught on tape biting the heads off little kittens, they will probably be re-elected. Every up-for-grabs seat must have a strong Democratic candidate with some ideas, not just anti-Bush. There should be plenty of campaign fodder especially if the Repugs are running away from their voting record.

36. Of course they should.
But those who are dissatisfied with Bush may very well just stay home on election day. Those who have the drive to win will be the ones to show up and vote, and right now, those of us who are anti-Bush have much more incentive to GOTV on election day.

levees and emergency preparedness. I Thank The Black Cacus, Howard Dean and Ted Kennedy for being in the lead on getting this info out there. Katrina must be our battle cry!

28. Generic numbers are one thing...
Choosing to vote against one's own GOP Congressman might be something else. It's like giving a failing grade to public schools in general but a passing grade to your own district.

...keep pushing people !!!! Do NOT pat yourselves on the back yet, Rove is way too smart to just roll over!

We have got to keep hammering on ALL fronts if we are going to save our Democracy from these criminals. We NEED to convict DeLay, Frist, Rove and Libby in order to recapture congress. We NEED to capture congress to Impeach shrub.

With any luck all the stress will give Cheney a heart attack. Speaker of the House is next in line. Conyer for President anyone???

25. Poll: More People Think History Will Judge Bush 'Unsuccessful'
<snip> For the first time, more people say his presidency will be judged as unsuccessful than say it will be seen as a success.

About 41 percent -- in a survey by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press -- say it will be seen as unsuccessful in the long run, while 26 percent say the opposite. Thirty-five percent say it's too early to tell.

That's a big shift from January, when 36 percent said successful and 27 percent said unsuccessful.

People were inclined to say the Bush presidency has made things worse on a range of issues including the budget deficit, health care, the economy and education. He did get better ratings on national security, with 47 percent saying he has improved that situation.

34. second number
always seems more important than the first. 69 % of Americans dislike the direction of America. As it becomes more "in" to openly dislike Bush it seems very likely people will stop making up reason to support him even though they hate virtually everything he's doing.

You can actually see Bush shrinking in size as his numbers fall.

He was so sure he wasn't going to be a BAD pres like his old man.

As bad as things are going, does anyone think that he might just quit? He was notorious for walking away from his failures before. Except the Sosa trade.
