"We are fighting them there so that we don't have to fight them here"
Where is there?

Why Baghdad then?

If we are going to fight the terrorists in a place where the terrorists were not at to begin with, we might as well fight them on the Moon, or in outer space, or in the oceanic depths, or in another dimension, or in Pat Robertson's Mansion (kinda iffy on that last one).

2. I heard that a lot during the elections
People who believe that terrorism won't come to this country are foolish.

3. Whats stopping them from coming here anyway?
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 03:13 PM by AllegroRondo
They could still attack us here easily, and most of our military would be over there.

4. Problem is, terrorists are NOT as STUPID as rightwingnuts.
See, terrorists can figure out hey, there's NO ONE HOME in America, let's FLY BOAT DRIVE to AMERICA and KABOOM!

Coz WHY would a terrorist want to fight the US MILITARY. Terrorists are NOT SOLDIERS.

So we have no one here protecting us, our ports and borders are wide fucking open...and IN waltz the terrorists. That is, the ones who aren't ALREADY HERE.

Like the 911 hijackers who were LIVING IN America...like the lead hijacker of whom got his university degree IN AMERICA.

DUHHHH stupid MFing rightwingnuts!

10. Apparently they are!
It has so far amazed me that Bush was right about starting things in the MidEast somewhere, seems if the terrorists can avoid travel they will. IF I were a terrorist, I would be here because the military is there, but what keeps happening is over there, or in Africa, or SE Asia, not here, YET. Nonetheless, I still think the terrorists are morons to be in Iraq at all, they should've left that alone and rushed to this side of the world, which would've forced Bush to bring home much of the military, leaving Iraq open for non=violent manipulation or even if it got violent, we wouldn't be focusing on it if we were embroiled here.

8. WE are fighting them here so that we can stop fighting over there.
Silly little fascists. It's so cute how they eat each other when faces with indictments for treason.

11. As if an army of turbaned taliban fighters were going to descend
on our cities. Truth is nobody can stop a small cell of determined terrorists.

14. I've never understood why
Bush hasn't been called on this? The "we're fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here" is like the Russians and Chechens deciding to fight their war in Texas. Iraq had no more to do with the "war on terror" than Texas does with the Russians and Chechens.

15. It takes an imaginative mind, no...
a mind in which reality is suspended to create a scenario in which Iraq could have invaded the US. Please....this is right along with Tony Blairs "have wmd's ready for missle delivery in 20 minutes." What frickin missle? A SCUD? With a 500 km range? Are we not men??? No we are devo...devolved into a passive go along mass.

Part of the propaganda, the 'snow job' that was used was convincing people that we are helpless, against an all knowing and powerful enemy. What have we had? the shoe bomber? Suspension of reality requires a willing audience, and I guess in his own special way, * can hypnotize the masses to believe such tripe.
