Cutting down the power of the Presidency

Over the years, the Executive Branch has gotten more and more powerful.

Our checks and balances in government are already threatened by 1 party rule in the two branches.

If the Executive Branch continues to collect power, we could have a Dictatorship in the making.

Here are my proposals to curtail the power of the Executive Branch.

1. 1st place winner becomes President, 2nd place winner becomes Vice-President. (Just like the old days)

2. Eliminate the ability that allows the Executive Branch to just declare war and go. (As it has done with recent wars)

3. Executive Branch doesn't "declare war"

Congress declares war.

Unfortunately, Congress doesn't exert this authority as much as it should and has let the Executive branch off the hook for the past 50 years.
