the sell off started in the middle 70`s and every president since has done nothing to solve the balance of trade and american industry from disinvesting in the american worker. all our trade policies favor cheap labor countries over our own workers and small business owners.
right now there`s not much left to sell....

Saw on Public TV a few nights ago (Nightly News) that despite decade of tremendous growth and industrialization, more than 60% of ALL Chinese make live off less than $1 per day, and fewer than half of all Chinese even brush their teeth (they actually said this), much less have dental insurance. Sounds like the US Gov't is not the only entity whose judgment should be questioned. I'm not sure that investment in the US will be such a good idea for the Chinese in the long run. A good illustration for those who insist that socialist governments make better decisions on behalf of their citizens.

Generally speaking... I would "guess" less and 5% of physical property (in terms of sq ft). As for "investment", I have heard #'s as high as 20% of our national debt.
