AP, Yahoo News taking the gloves off with the chimp?
Could it be that MSM is finally going after the little dictator?
(snip) Paul Rieckhoff, director of the New York-based Operation Truth, an advocacy group for U.S. veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, denounced the event as a "carefully scripted publicity stunt." Five of the 10 U.S. troops involved were officers, he said.

3. If a career soldier would DARE to cross the CiC, the career is...
over! Bush had a captive crowd of soldiers who were afraid for their jobs!

4. I had a 1st Lt. that wrote his congressman about M 16s jamming
@ the DMZ in Vietnam. This caused a shit-storm in the battalion & back in the states. He knew his "career" was over, but didn't care.

7. Those guys were bobbing for brownie points.
I guess some soldiers are born the type, just to star in those epic Bushco made for TV war-plays/dramas and some soldiers are born to have epic war movies, someday, made ABOUT them.

I wonder if they issue TV make-up now instead of cammo sticks, when you draw your TA.50-901? Or do you buy your own make-up at the PX? A War Face really stands tall on the tube, if it's made up right, I guess. A Jon Wayne make-up kit, to go with the Jon Wayne toilet paper? Who would have ever thunk it?

Bush was a walking clusterflop(forgets his lines...err...lies)...I'm glad I don't have to salute the likes of him. The Wild Weasel in Chief, seemed very troubled yesterday.

2. Lead story on NBC Nightly News tonight
Thanks for posting. Dammit, they change nothing; manipulate at all times. Wish the Dems would step up. Now is the time, but they won't.

5. They wanted to avoid the embarrassment Rumsfeld had in Iraq
when two soldiers challenged him and, out of the blue, told him they had to scrape together odds and ends to create armor for their vehicles and that they weren't being supplied with equipment. Someone on CNN mentioned this embarrassing event as the reason why the White House is now gun shy about allowing soldiers to speak off the cuff at open conferences with the President.

They helped create the nightmare, and now they're thinking only of their own survival.

12. read Howard Fineman's most recent column for an example
it is in the editorials forum under "Conservative Crackup". He has been a huge cheerleader for Bushco and gop for a number of years. As I read his column I thought the same thing that you typed - he isn't waking up to the admin - he is jumping off the ship realizing that the longer he cheers, the more readers he will lose.

9. Did they portray the participants as non-officers?
been reading a lot of places about the clearly staged event (with disdain in the reporting) - but this is the first implication that the staging might also include having folks fake their positions - if that is what is being implied.

14. on my local 11:00 news last night...
They did a story on this... I think it was CBS... and flat out said that the conference was staged and the soldiers were told how to answer the questions. Even showed a clip of the woman from the Pentagon walking them through what to say... it was very damning. This AP story is very tame compared to what CBS had on the news last night.
