6. Hope this isn't "too much information," but

"We’re proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who’s physical, who’s not a complicated guy like Clinton or even like Dukakis or Mondale, all those guys, McGovern. They want a guy who’s president. Women like a guy who’s president. Check it out. The women like this war."

Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 07:57 PM by LastDemocratInSC
One of the most important lessons taught to a military pilot is to ... disconnect your parachute harness BEFORE getting out of the airplane. If one fails to do so certain anatomical areas will become mechanically constrained by the harness.

I guess * missed that Air National Guard class while he was AWOL in Alabama.

It's always possible, of course, that the pilot who flew Bush out to the carrier was laughing his ass off in the cockpit after Bush got out while thinking "Maybe I should have told him about that ... NAAAAHHHHH!!!"

I don't know a single woman who finds him attractive or sexy. But I do know a lot of women who have to change the channel the minute his ugly mug comes on.

Although I did that for three years, I have to admit that I've become fascinated with watching his twitches and jerks, and I eagerly await catching his next gaffe.

But mostly the women I know can't even watch him.

I think all that swaggering stuff only appeals to a certain type of male - - an insecure type of male.

What an appropriate question! I quit watching on a regular basis the night before the California recall. I think the question should be to Dems more than others. Tweety is like many of the beltway insiders. Nothing has as much meaning as their status as a beltway insider. Cohen's column today means he joins that beltway insider club: Tweety(once a working Dem), Al Hunt, his wife Judy Woodruff, Margaret Carlson. Once working liberals.

Cripes, doesn't he remember being in elementary school? You could have an insurance salesman show up there for an assembly, and if it interrupted the deadly routine for even a few minutes, it was like getting to go to the circus!

Chris Matthews is a complete fucking retard.

Let's see, hmmm....George McGovern, piloted 35 B-24 missions out of Africa and Italy in WWII. Won the Distinguished Flying Cross. Campaigned for president in 1972 against Dick Nixon. The former Senator is currently serving as the UN Ambassador against hunger.

I guess being A REAL WAR HERO counts for little in that pea-brained media whores opinion, but playing dress-up as a pilot does.

McGovern was a REAL pilot and a war hero.
Mondale was a soldier and never went AWOL.
Dukakis was an Army vet too and served his entire hitch honorably.

But Tweety worships Dress-Up Bu$h like a little teenie with her first crush.

Tweety is paid well by NBC (see war-profiteering GE) to praise the corporate cabal. But he could try to be a little less gross about it.

18. These 2 "Reasons" for Defending Tweety
1) that he was "virulently" against the Iraq attack, because 2) he has a (more than one) "draft age son" have been bouncing around for years and cannot be borne out by anybody who has actually watched Tweety for hours on end.

He wrote columns (long since ended) that were more "Liberal" than the material he presents on cable, meaning that he was at least open to being a changling, a fair weather follower.

Why do DUers give him a rough time (like we have power to make an actual DENT in him)---because we have WATCHED him doing soft porn over porn since Campaign-2000, because he has SAID he voted for Shrub, because he has SAID "I'm not the Democrat I USED to be," because nobody can savage Democrats the way he can.

As for the canard about his draft age sons. In the run-up to the Iraq attack he was VOCIFEROUSLY pro-attack. This "draft age sons" crap is very intangible and hard to debunk with links and such. I wish Snopes would work on something this intangible, but it's too "emotional" in substance.

I challenge anybody who uses this "draft age sons" regarding Tweety to provide ONE link, one newspaper column, one whatever where he ever said something about it.

The short answer is that anybody who defends Tweety from the Dem side DOES NOT WATCH HIM. The last time he was identifiably a Dem was back when "Hardball" the book was published, something like 1988.

He just wound up for the camera, and didn't seem to give a crap about anything else when the camera was off. He mugs, and then cut to commercial, nothing. No sign of life, either way.

At one point, the idiot boy prince was droning on and the crowd in Herald square was screaming "Liar, liar" and it was so loud, you couldn't hear the idiot child's ranting. I thought tweety would react to the crowd, when he couldn't hear anyone on the set, but I only saw him give a ver short smile to another pundit for just a fleeting moment. None of it matters for him. Just the camera. And he really loves the camera, that's for sure.

that when he talks to Liberal groups, like on college campuses, he talks out of the "Liberal" side of his mouth. He also takes fees to speak to wingnut groups.

But your observations re "acting" are on the mark. On satellite feeds, the hosts and guests don't interact at all when not on the air.

Tweety's high on the TV audience. Needs lots of attention. I have students like that at school.

But even though he may ask better questions than other reporters from time to time, it doesn't mean he cares about anything: Truth, freedom, democracy, representative government. He wants only what keeps him on air and all of you watching.

corp and worked for a Democrat administration, can now be such a turncoat. What possibly could have caused such a change of heart and mind?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Matthews

Christopher John Matthews (born December 17, 1945) hosts a nightly, hour-long talk show called Hardball with Chris Matthews on the American cable television channel MSNBC, formerly on CNBC.

Matthews, a Roman Catholic, graduated from The College of the Holy Cross, and did graduate work in economics at the University of North Carolina. Then he served in the Peace Corps in Swaziland as a trade development advisor.

As a Democrat, Matthews has worked for several Democratic politicians. He was a presidential speechwriter for four years during the administration of Jimmy Carter. He served as a top aide to long-time Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O'Neill for six years. He worked in the U.S. Senate for five years on the staffs of Senators Frank Moss and Edmund Muskie before running for U. S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

not to be flippant, but these people are entertainers first and foremost. They swing with the wind, regardless of what they personally believe. They all are playing characters on TeeVee or the radio, the true believers are not good entertainers and aren't successful in media. The really good ones, like Rush Limbaugh, are incredibly in touch with their audiences and pander to exactly what they want to hear, it's not news, it's entertainment. People only think it's news.

I was under the impression that Matthews was one of the reporters pigeonholed by Scooter Libby and/or others involved in Plamegate, and that he's pissed that he can't talk about it. Can someone fill me in on that?

You guys shouldn't trust anyone on TV. Television as it is currently conceived doesn't allow for anything but the crudest representation of the news. It's like a medieval court jester telling gossipy stories with marionettes. Even if what the puppets said is true, well, the source is still a friggin' clown.

I bet that some--maybe most--of the people in television news understand that better than a lot of us.... Well, at least me. So if you don't like what the guy on television is saying, remember he's a puppet and go after the goddamned clown who tells him what to say.
