They just recently (within the last month or so) updated the lineup on AM 1090, Seattle's Air America station. I get up in the morning and head to work, listening to Stephanie Miller, then, if I end up driving delivery, catch Thom Hartmann at 9:00. Ed Shultz is on at noon and Al Franken comes on at 3:00...
I kinda miss Randi Rhodes, but my wife can only handle so much liberal talk (she's more of a Libertarian than anything) so in respect to her I don't listen to the radio in the evenings.
Now...I'm curious to know what everyone here thinks of Thom Hartmann. Speaking strictly for me, I think he's just about the best host they have on. He's thoughtful, insightful, and occasionally quite amusing.
Ed Shultz can be the same, but I have problems with some of his positions. He comes out with some excellent suggestions at times...
Al Franken is occasionally amusing, but some of his bits are just too much.
I like Stephanie Miller...she's a good way to wake up, and, mostly, more amusing than Morning Sedition, which has been moved to the middle of the night.
On weekends I occasionally catch the Young Turks, and I've heard Ring of Fire a time or two.
So...I know a lot of DUers are Randi and Mike Malloy fans and I like both of them--they're firebrands and we need them. But I think we also need the more moderate voices like Thom Hartmann and, to a lesser extent, Ed Shultz.
Any comments?

1. I wouldn't put Hartmann and Schultz in the same category. Thom is |
|
very articulate and intelligent. He has written several books about the decay of our country and our rights. I see Schultz as moderate only because it will increase his ratings. I think he is quite impressed with himself. Personally I get annoyed with Schultz.

6. Schultz wants to convert people over to our side... |
|
by talking "their language".

But both operate from the center, more or less.
I definitely prefer listening to Thom, myself.

2. If AAR steals Thom Hartman from us Sirius subscribers ... |
|
... goddamn it, I will scream.
Thom is gold.

I'm in Portland, and Thom hosts a local show here for three hours before his national show you guys get at 9-noon.
I don't get to hear his national show often, because KPOJ 620 AM doesn't run it here. On the off days that I can, I stream it.
You guys are lucky to get it, because I think he's right up there with the best.
I think he'll slide into Franken's time slot when Al runs for the Senate in Minnesota and get a bigger share of the national audience. He really deserves it.

4. I'm a HUGE Hartmann fan |
|
(or should I say HUGH11!!11)
After him, I like Randi and on occasion I listen to the rest of them.
Hartmann just make so much sense. He seems to be able to frame the issues so that they're crystal clear. He's so informed, too. I think the guy is a genius. I love hearing all the little history tidbits. I know some people think he's a little too dry or academic or whatever but I love him. I turned a few friends onto him and they love him and are reading all his books now.
I hope they get him on AAR daily. I believe he has the potential to reach out to people and bring them over to our side.

7. I Hate The New Line Up at 1090 |
|
Steph Miller and crew are clowns.....not much substance and way to many commercials.
Thom Hartman......Love it....no complaints
Ed Shultz.....Love it more.....Better than Randi Rhodes for that slot
Al Franken......mmmm......cant stand having Jewish values impossed on me also he is a slight bi of a boar....he'd be better at the 10PM hour then people would need Ambien.
The Majority report.......No complaints.
Randi Rhodes needs to go back to 3:00PM
I dont like having Mike Malloy on a tape delay and he is on way to late for the type of show he offers.....
All in all I dont like most of the KTPK lineup being tape delay......I wish they would go back to the old format.

Clowns are just about what I want... Steph works for me at that point. I actually enjoy it more than I did Mark and Mark.
I liked Al and Catherine...they played off one another well enough.
I could handle a reshuffle as long as we didn't lose Thom.
