Lawyer for cops with the NOPD is a Slimeball!
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 09:30 PM by cat_girl25
On CNN with Brown and Cooper, they have both lawyers on showing new extended footage. The lawyer for the cops involved is showed parts of the video that deliberately shows one of the cops kicking Mr. Davis in the face while he is already down. The slimeball laywer said it looks like he was a stepping down on the pavement.

And then if you notice, you see no blood as he lands on the ground. Where did all that blood come from in the earlier pictures? Apparently they beat the shit out of him some more as he was down.

1. Brown and Cooper have been excellent in this interview.
The cops' attorney is a lying slimeball. I love your choice of the word 'slimeball' in your post.

It's absolutely perfect.

2. I've been watching too, and thinking the same thing...
He's a complete jerk.

On the bright side, Anderson is doing a good job of calling him out.

3. I find him repulsive ....
and turned channels. Flipping through, I stopped at Fox. One of their guests, a retired detective, said all the cops should be prosecuted to the fullest extent, and that their attorney should be charged for all the lies he is telling.

4. Did you watch some of it though?
There was new footage and it looked like Mr. Davis resisted arrest, at least that's what Cooper and Brown said.

5. He had been punched
several times already. The film starts from the side view, blocked by the horse; then the cameraman walks to his right. The victim indeed grabs and resists. He has been punched numerous times, and is trying to protect himself. I felt the victim's lawyer could have done a little better.

Rather than pointing out what by-standers said, for example, he could have noted that the victim clearly says, "Do you want me to roll over? I will if you let me!" (This is when he is on the ground, and they are twisting him in too many directions.) Hopefully his attorney will be better prepared for trial, or bring in another attorney. Easy case to win.

6. Yeah, I agree.
Because it's clear the cops are guilty but if their lawyer (not slimeball) does a better job than Mr. Davis' lawyer, it will go the way of Rodney King's trial.

7. Mr. Davis' lawyer
is only for the civil trial. There has got to be a very real chance the city will resolve this out of court. The standard of proof in a civil trial is significantly lower than in criminal court. When the officers face criminal charges, Davis' lawyer plays no role. In Davis' criminal case, I'm thinking he will likely have the charges dropped.

9. I thought the victim's
lawyer was lousy. I saw nothing in Mr. Davis' action that should have led to such a beating. I once saw two female cops who were unable to handle a very drunk man. He wasn't abusive but refused to obey the female cops. They called for backup and two male officers came and handcuffed the drunk who was then whisked away. There was no violence at all.

11. Possible
It's possible but the cop used excessive force before trying any other methods. I wouldn't blame the guy for going into survival mode after being punched in the head from behind 4 times and having his face hit the wall.

8. Me too! I couldn't stand hearing a human being defend ...
the brutal battery of that elderly gentleman.

I know everybody deserves a defense but I'd be damned before I went on tv for those SOBs.

Look up slimeball in the dictionary and that guy's picture is there.

10. I couldn't believe my ears!
That scum bag laywer said all the victim had to do was cry "uncle".
He was disgusting! :nuke:
