Fitzgerald was appointed by James B. Comey, the admin's #2 guy in the justice dept.

Why would he appoint someone that really wanted to come up with indictments?

IOW, would a member of this administration:

a. Appoint a "bulldog and no-partisan gunslinger": to head the Plamegate investigation'
b. Someone who would make it look like a thourough investigation but in the end not come up with indictments

I'm an average American, so I barely keep track of who is in office beyond the President and the Vice President.

Maybe he actually has a conscience. Or, maybe he doesn't, but misjudged Fitzgerald. Given the level of incompetence displayed by this administration, I wouldn't assume the fix is in on this. However, it shouldn't be entirely ruled out, either.
