Ya thought the US military was mostly republican? WRONG.
In the enlisted ranks, which make up apx 85% of the US military, ONLY 32%-34%...ONE-THIRD...ARE REPUBLICANS. The other 15%, officers, are 70-80% Republicans. (Interesting how bush's "teleconferance" photo-op was 50% officers...)

5. If I did the math correctly
that's about 59% Democrats for the military as a whole.

6. I have always thought it was silly
to think a bunch of inner city kids and desperate rural poor would somehow miraculously become supply-side economists just because they signed on in hopes of getting some college tuition money.

Luis from South Central or Clyde from the cornfields isn't going to become a Bushevik just because he happens to serve under the miserable bastard.

What you have in all the wingnut military is a group of very vocal, strident militants who learned at the feet of Rush in that hour per day of his hatefest that You and I pay to have broadcast on Armed Forces Radio.

They aren't smarter than us, they certainly aren't nicer, but they do understand a whole lot better how to get the message out.

8. I have a couple of friends in my community who were
career military ladies. They both retired in their mid-fifties. They are very active in our county Democratic committee.

They told me that they were always encouraged to vote Republican by the officers. They just kept quiet, and voted Democratic. They said that "encouragement" was common.

9. Interesting how bush's "teleconferance" photo-op was 50% officers...
Sickening that it was 50%, I'd say.

How's that song go? "Yeah, well it might be your job...but that don't make it right..." I'll just look it up, this lyric
"Hey calling it your job ol’ hoss sure don’t make it right
But if you want me to I’ll say a prayer for your soul tonight"

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/john-mellencamp/74537.html
John Mellencamp
Rain on The Scarecrow

Scarecrow on a wooden cross blackbird in the barn
Four hundred empty acres that used to be my farm
I grew up like my daddy did my grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence while grandpa held my hand

Chorus:
Rain on the scarecrow blood on the plow
This land fed a nation this land made me proud
And son I’m just sorry there’s no legacy for you now
Rain on the scarecrow blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow blood on the plow

The crops we grew last summer weren’t enough to pay the loans
Couldn’t buy the seed to plant this spring and the farmers bank foreclosed
Called my old friend schepman up to auction off the land
He said john it’s just my job and I hope you understand
Hey calling it your job ol’ hoss sure don’t make it right
But if you want me to I’ll say a prayer for your soul tonight
And grandma’s on the front porch swing with a Bible in her hand
Sometimes I hear her singing take me to the promised land
When you take away a man’s dignity he can’t work his fields and cows

There’ll be blood on the scarecrow blood on the plow
Blood on the scarecrow blood on the plow

Well there’s ninety-seven crosses planted in the courthouse yard
Ninety-seven families who lost ninety-seven farms
I think about my grandpa and my neighbors and my name
And some nights I feel like dyin’ like that scarecrow in the rain

That's us.

10. 50% officers, yes, but the only ones allowed to speak were the officers
with the exception of a female Master Sergeant (E-8), enlisted, true, but so high up in the non-commisioned officer ranks as to be senior to most lieutenants (officers) in practice. It was a dog and pony show, pure and simple, complete with staged questions.

21. I guess it really didn't matter what I was because I never voted.
I didn't know the difference between left/right, democrat or republican I am ASHAMED to admit. I know for a fact if I DID know what was what I would NEVER have been a republican.

13. One Was An Iraqi...
That's the dude that got me. One of those vaunted Iraqi "allies"...still doing the "meeester booosh (Iraqi pronounciation...how I pronounce it now), I love you" crap. I can't believe this regime is still trying to beat this horse that not only is dead, it was never born in the first place.

What's the latest estimate of true Iraqi forces? 1,500? 1,000? 500? Buehler???

Then I see that asshat Andy Card actually try to spin that we're helping the Iraqis unite the country. Coughbullshitcough. If there's anyway we're uniting them, Andy, you fukstick, is by making them hate us more and more.

It's so mind boggling, it boggles the mind...

single issue re Iraq to date, the EXPERTS say one thing, the bushCabal say another.

And of course the EXPERTS have been 100% correct, the bushCabal 100% WRONG to date, so I suspect the EXPERTS will be proven correct once again on this;

"Unmaking Iraq, the Constitutional Process Gone Awry,"

The Iraqi constitution as written will push that country toward full-scale civil war, a report from a nonprofit organization warns. Melissa Block talks with Robert Malley, director of the International Crisis Group's Middle East program.
http://www.crisisgroup.org/home/index.cfm?l=1&id=3703

"It may well be more of a prelude to civil war than a step forward," Anthony H. Cordesman said in an analysis for the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The Bush administration endorsed Iraq's proposed new constitution yesterday, but analysts warned that some provisions can be interpreted to undermine everything from the distribution of political power to a secular judiciary, from women's rights to fair distribution of oil revenue.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/24/AR2005082402217_pf.html

There are, however, significant doubts about the religious nature of the new constitution...

"It is written by Islamists for Islamists"

Zainab and her friend Zahra, 37, are both deeply apprehensive about the effect the constitution will have on women's rights. Since "liberation" by US-led forces they have seen the growth in the power of Muslim clerics and the diminishing power of choice.

Iraqi Women May Lose Basic Rights Under New Constitution
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0723-06.htm

Americans Die for Sharia (ISLAMIC STATE) in Iraq

It's so Abdul the Iraqi can have six wives. It's so women can be forced to wear the abaya, alcohol can be banned, and sharia law – Muslim religious beliefs as interpreted by a council of mullahs and "grand ayatollahs" – can become the law of the land. As one of the Shi'ite clerics' representatives put it the other day:

"We don't want to see equality between men and women because according to Islamic law, men should have double of women. This is written in the Quran and according to God."
http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=4774

Exactly the OPPOSITE of what bush spews daily...and EXACTLY what all the EXPERTS warned would happen before bush's war of aggression.

And he's a soldier, and he's not a republican.

We didn't suddenly have a US military the day bush decided to invade the sovereign & innocent state of Iraq.

Not to mention a lot of high-ranking ex-military, who were very wary of what bushco was doing.

So it makes perfect sense.
